Could you imagine a life without struggle? A life where everything you wanted was handed to on a silver platteryours for the taking. It’d be pretty rad, right? Well, for 99% of the world’s population, that scenario is not a reality. We come across struggles all the time.... And the point of a business is to minimize some type of struggle, whether that be a product that helps with X, a service that helps with Y, or a program that helps with Z. My point: your business solves a problem. But before you can craft high-converting copy, you need to identify WHAT your ideal customer is struggling with. So here are some tips for defining your ideal customer's pain points: 1 Research the heck out of them (I have a post all about researching your ideal customer on the blog) 2 Talk to your past & current customers (brownie points if you create a survey) 3 Look at the reviews from your products and from your competitors (Amazon is a great resource) If you want some more tips on researching and creating your ICA, click the link below and check out my latest Copy Series. https://cscontentdesigns.com/how-to-create-your-ideal-cust/

Do you remember those surveys you filled out as a kid that would tell you which careers you'd likely enjoy? Every time I filled out one of those surveys, I received some combination of the following: writer, journalist, historian. And, looking back, those little tests weren't wrong. Because I love writing (as I'm sure you've guessed), but I also love research.... I love putting the pieces together and writing from a place of certainty, rather than staring at that good ol' cursor, waiting for words to magically come to me. And with copywriting, research is a MUST. It stands at the very foundation of any strong marketing message or brand voice. Because if you don't know who you truly serve, how can you possibly speak to them in a way that promotes action? In my latest blog post, I'm walking you through my research process and how I find the interests, pain points, and other supporting information about my ideal client. When we first started our business, we tried to speak to everyone. We thought the more people that we reached, the more leads we would receive. And the more money we’d make. Our messaging was generic and lacked depth. Our design was impersonal andto be perfectly honestboring. But, most importantly, we didn’t have a clear idea of who we served. Because, well, we served everyoneright? Does this sound familiar?... This belief is one of the most common experiences for new entrepreneurs. And without clarity behind your copy, it won’t perform well. Now, fast forward two years, and we’re VERY specific about WHO we serve and WHY we serve them. We know exactly what our ideal customers struggle with, the tone they resonate with, and the content they gravitate towards. But this knowledge did not fall into our laps. It took trial and error, research, and experience. And it took time. However, you don’t have to make the same mistakes we did. And you can skip past some of those messy bits and dive straight into the deep end. Because with the tips I’m teaching you today, you can create detailed ideal customer avatars. That way, you can craft copy that speaks to your audience and inspires direct action. And you’ll have the skills to make more sales or book more clients.
