It's Wavelength Wednesday! Here is another sneak peak at one of the designs for the upcoming Art Cube installation on the south lawn (ArtPark). The animals represented for the lantern phase of the 20/20 Wavelength Exhibition are all species that are closely associated with the land here. The white tailed deer is native to Alberta and like the trout featured previously, was a big part of the culture of the people that lived here before Calgary was a city. Deer are still a big... part of the landscape. There's something weird and magical about seeing a small herd of deer walking down the streets of the suburbs. Although this did happen before the pandemic, the deer took the opportunity to range wider on the streets while things were locked down. As humans we tend to think everything revolves around us, yet nature is always ready to retake the empty spaces as soon as they appear. The symbology of deer also offers us a look into What Matters Now. Deer are gentle but resilient and strong. Intuitive and cautious of danger. They move with grace through all challenges. Deer are stronger together than apart. In these challenging times, it's good to contemplate how we may approach life like a deer. "A wounded deer leaps the highest." - Emily Dickinson. Phase Three of the 20/20 Wavelength Exhibition opens soon! Watch for more details as we get closer to the big reveal. As always, we thank our awesome sponsors who are so vital in making this exhibition a reality: #lemayonline, #rockwoodcustomhomes, #theedwardyyc Deer design: Andy Moro

Good morning! This Throwback Thursday we are flashing back to last June when the Rozsa Foundation announced Erin MacLean-Berko as their Emerging Arts Administrator of the Year. The award was to be presented at the annual Mayor's Lunch, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, was given during an online Zoom with Mayor Naheed Nenshi. We came to know Erin as an insightful, funny, whipsmart member of our Sandbox Coworking space. As Managing Director of the Calgary Boys' Choir, classic...ally trained singer, and occasional musical theatre director for Rosebud Theatre and more, Erin is the definition of a creative entrepreneur. Says Erin, "I have loved working in the Sandbox. Being a musician and administrator can be very isolating. cSPACE provides the opportunity to connect with the broader community, and I have found it energizes my work by seeing the inspiring work taking place all around me. "The opportunities for collaboration and cross promotion have been so valuable, and in such a remarkable space!" Congrats again, Erin, on the well deserved recognition. Do you have what it takes to play in our Sandbox? Dedicated desks are available now. Link in bio for more info.

This Wavelength Wednesday we take a sneak peek at what's next for the 2020 Wavelength Project! This beautiful sketch is one of four gorgeous designs that will be part of the transformation of the Art Cubes on our South Lawn into larger-than-life, light-filled lanterns. Keep following for more as we get closer to the big reveal. We're excited to share this limited run public art installation with all of you!... Trout design by Andy Moro.

Happy New Year and a big welcome to 2021! Wishing everyone the gift of time this year --- knowing how to spend it, and how to save it, and make the most of it while we have it. If you can, make time for art this year. If this pandemic taught us anything, it's that we all crave creativity in our lives. Whether it was a new found love of baking bread, or finally picking up that dusty guitar we've been meaning to play, sitting down to start that novel, or just learning a new da...nce on TikTok, we have used our free time to explore our own creative nature. If 2021 proves better than 2020, and we all hope it will, please remember the lessons from 2020, to spend time well, and give your inner artist room to grow. Pictured: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Public art on display in the South Entrance to cSPACE King Edward. Artists Caitlind r.c. Brown, Wayne Garrett and Lane Shordee.

New Year's Eve this year conveniently overlaps with Throw Back Thursday. The 20/20 Wavelength Project was all about looking back on things that mattered to us this year. Music matters to a lot of people. This past September, Erin Berko-Maclean filmed this beautiful song for our 20/20 Wavelength Project. We present a snippet here. People will always surprise you with sides of themselves you don't get to see every day. As part of the Sandbox coworking space at cSPACE, we saw da...ily the hardworking, business-savvy, funny, side of Erin, as managing director of the Calgary Boys' Choir, and manager of Spiritus Chamber Choir. Heck, in June, she won the Rosza Foundation's 2020 Emerging Arts Administrator Award! For Wavelength, we were so lucky to experience this lady's glorious classical soprano pipes! It's good to remember why we do the business of art; because we love artists. Please enjoy a moment of meditative stillness today, and let the soaring notes of this song take you gently over the threshold of this year into the next. Happy 2021 everyone! Thanks too, to our Wavelength sponsors, The Edward, Rockwood Custom Homes, and Lemay. #theedwardyyc #rockwoodcustomhomes #lemayonline #nye2020 #spirituschamberchoir #calgaryboyschoir #yycarts #yycliving

Happy Saturday! We had a sneak peek at phase three of the 20/20 Wavelength Project and let me just say, prepare to have your mind blown! Stay tuned for more as lead artist Andy Moro brings the next phase of the project to life on the Art Cubes outside cSPACE. Meanwhile, we'd like to say another thanks to our sponsors who are helping bring this vision to life: The Edward, Lemay, and Rockwood Custom Homes. What Matters Now? Today it is community support and commitment to a sh...ared vision. Throwback Thursday! Today we look back to just two months ago, when Leela Aheer paid a visit during Culture Days. In the Atelier Artista, she got a very special sneak peek at the incredible 3D mural being painted by Metrographics. Brian Batista (pictured) explained the process he and Metrographics have undertaken with the enormous work. Seems like every day we see a couple of ducks or a coyote cutout zoom past us from the Metrographics studio to be completed and incorporated in the work upstairs!

What would Michael Green do? Today walking the halls of cSPACE, Peter Moller’s sketches provoke remembrance of an Calgary arts crusader and creative community builder who left too soon and is greatly missed! One may ask what Michael Green would do in the face of this pandemic adversity - what would he do?... On One Yellow Rabbit’s webpage, we can remember He was an exuberant spirit who embraced the exceptional and the unusual and wanted to share it with as many people as possible. If anything, perhaps there’s an answer if we follow his lead. What to do, is to celebrate the exceptional and unusual creativity of artists, who create potential and possibility in every brush stroke, movement and note. Then share it! Thanks to Michael Green whose legacy will live on and to Peter Moller whose sketches reawaken Green’s spirit in the now. . . . #eggpress #oneyellowrabbit #yycarts #cspacekingedward #highperformancerodeo #makingtreaty7 Michael Green: https://www.oyr.org/the-company/the-ensemble/michael-green

From the view of downtown from our lovely Treehouse North, we remember Canadian soldiers who fought and fell, and all those who continue to serve. We will be closed today, but look forward to tomorrow, and another day to celebrate our 4C values: Creativity, Community, Collaboration, and Change. #lestweforget #veteransday #poppy #canada #remember #thankyou #peace #yycliving #yycnow #cspacekingedward
