Local Canadian Tire Supports Family Impacted by Fire. Story and picture by Joanne Witt, snapd Richmond Hill Elia, the son of one of the families who lost their home during a huge fire that destroyed 11 townhouses in Richmond Hill is an avid hockey player whose equipment was destroyed in the fire. With all of their possessions destroyed, the family couldn’t afford to replace the equipment. When local Canadian Tire owner Steven McCarthy heard of the family’s story, he did not h...esitate to help. As a Canadian Tire Dealer, I’m proud to support my community in times of need. I am so pleased to be able to provide Elia with new hockey equipment so he can continue pursuing his passion for the game. said McCarthy. We will be having a food donation bin at the front of our store, and we are asking customers to please kindly bring in a non-parishable food item to donate. Our staff will also be making a donation from our staff food drive. The drive is taking place between October 8th and October 12th. All food collected will be donated directly to Richmond Hill Food Bank, and will help families in our community of Richmond Hill.
