Calgary Tsinghua Chinese School 29.10.2020

Special Announcement: CTCS (Calgary Tsinghua Chinese school) math department is offering a special mathematics series during the coming summer of 2012. Students... and parents can plan early for this excellent opportunity! The theme of the summer series is "Amazing math". Starting at fun, even math-game oriented questions, the math coach will lead students to investigate, and reveal math facts and principles in depths. All topics are specifically chosen to be applicable in in a broad context, and many can lead to nice math results that students can appreciate. Through this series, we will collect sufficient momentum to have an excursion in algebra, geometry, number theories and combination to look at the wonderful math world. The dynamics of "play-and-learn" is inspiring! Students will have the opportunity to takele fun and intriguing problems (include some previous contest problems) in a relaxing, cooperative atmosphere! Planned series consist of 7+ Lessions each lasting 2 - 2.5 hours. The sessions are planned for weekends during the summer. Watch out for details! Please be adviced that most topics in this series are offered for the first time. The target group is for students in grade 8 - 10. We open our arms to warmly welcome advanced students in grade 6/7. Even for grade 11 student, he/she can still find some problems interesting, and some aspects new and inspirational. Planned topics include, but are not limited to the following: Number games, divisibility and patterns Algebra in games and jigsaw puzzles Explore geometry in folding papers Fearless excursion to powers and exponents Game of chance and grouping of colored necklace -- what's so special about primes? From difference graphs to power difference -- always patterns, but some are new We also include traditional topics in algebra/geometry/combination problems and function, graphing, mapping and transformation problems. In brief, we supplement what are taught in school with inspiring methods and offer challenging problems to work with. Ay, take another look at the list of planned topics: you may recognize some concepts here, but .. the interesting discussion will provide fresh thought. : CTCS (CALGARY ) . , .
