We are glad to report that we continue to progress in our efforts to be intentional in all aspects of inclusion, diversity and equality. Communication throughout the society has been the focus of this past month’s activities. The Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access Advisory Council continues to meet, with additional meetings planned later in November and December. Staff discussions and education continue during bi-weekly meetings. The CTF Board is currently reviewing the strategic plan, mission, mandate, and goals concerning justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and access, and 2020 closure and 2021 planning.

When COVID descended upon our lives earlier this year and shut down the Theatre, Sandra & Bob Dawson (pictured here) noticed the Theatre’s reduced workforce could not maintain the grounds to its usual standard. They gathered their tools, reached out to a few friends and theatre supporters, and started a spring cleanup in the Courtyard, and they are still at it today! The Theatre has been a continuous source of enjoyment for The Dawsons, and they feel blessed that their ongoing contribution helps sustain this beacon for the residents and visitors to our Little Town. Thank you to Sandra, Bob and all their helpers for a fantastic job. We couldn’t do it without you.

In the past month, work has continued through the Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Access Advisory Council meetings, with a focus on respectful bridge-building opportunities with Indigenous communities, land acknowledgment details and program and policy recommendations. In efforts to secure additional support for EDI work, multiple granting opportunities have been targeted and processed through community foundations and government bodies. During theatre closure, inte...rim programming was developed to animate the space and stay connected with the community through Playbill Presents. The Series will officially open on October 16 with additional performances and artists scheduled for November. For more information about performers and performances visit https://bit.ly/33Z81gR. Staff and Board engagement continues through the approval process of an updated Respectful Workplace Policy, which includes additional reporting options.
