Don’t let your credit union’s voice go unheard! Speak up to support common-sense banking terminology. Over 27 credit unions have created a submission, have you? There’s still important work to do to ensure credit unions can continue to use the verb bank and term banking in describing what we do for Canadians every day. The Department of Finance set a September 29 deadline for its public consultation concerning the restrictions on the use of these terms by credit unions. T...his is a positive development but it’s crucial that this consultation hears back from individual credit unions in support of common sense use of these terms prior to the deadline. CCUA is strongly encouraging every member credit union to make a written submission of your own to ensure your voice is heard loud and clear on this issue. Submissions may be brief (even just a page!) and focused specifically on the banking terms issue.
