WEEK 4: Emojis Do you speak emoji? We asked our friends to create their own emojis in response to various prompts; as you can see, their digital world intuition is on point!
WEEK 3: Avatars Here we have a variety of our students puppets, designed to show off their wonderful human traits and respective qualities! We asked them to identify their unique strengths while expressing themselves simultaneously, and we think these creations speak for themselves
WEEK 2: Window Art Keeping with the times at hand, we asked our friends to create Window Art pieces based on their brainstormed messages of happiness, gratitude, and unity in the face of distancing. The future looks bright!!
Week 1: Sidewalk Art We asked our friends from Todays Family to create sidewalk squares as a means of sharing their expression to the community. We couldnt be happier with the results!!!

Last week, we were so fortunate to meet Marianne & Susan Larsen - of the Johansen-Larsen Foundation - to present our summer program goals and CKA incentives! Marianne & Susan have exercised immense support & generosity to our Arts Educator Apprentice program, Artasia & the CKA initiative as a whole. For these reasons, we are extremely grateful to them, as well as the Johansen-Larsen initiative. Humans are part animal, insect, fruit, vegetable, wind, air, sun, moon.... Heres some work from our Guardian Creatures activity! This activity involved our students creating a hybrid creature to protect their parks. What do you think some of the pictured creatures are?
Artasia is looking for newspapers! Our upcoming week of programming requires your generous donations of extra newspapers you may have laying around. Any newspaper donations can be dropped off between today and next Tuesday at the front desk of the HCA at 126 James Street North. With your generous donations, our Artasia participants will be able to create creatures in collaboration with this years theme of protecting parks.
Last but certainly not least, we have Sophie! Sophie Morgan has a BFA in Art Education from Concordia University. She hopes to use her education to empower and engage communities as an art educator and administrator through programming. She is a multidiscplinary artist, self proclaimed hip-hop head and proud Hamiltonian . She is interested in exploring spatial theory , the human form and in using hip hop as a way to empower marginalized communities welcome Sophie!
Here we have Devon! Devon is a freelance musician , composer/arranger , multi-instrumentalist , producer & educator based out of Hamilton & Toronto . He is an honor roll graduate of Mohawk Colleges Applied Music program as a bass major, and will be entering his final year of Humber Colleges Bachelor of Music program in the fall ! Outside of his involvement in the arts community and an appreciation for all things music , Devons passions can be found through peanut butter sandwiches , reruns of the Office , road trips with good friends , and - most importantly - being your pal welcome, Devon!
Meet Sukaina! Sukaina is going into her last year at McMaster University , pursuing an honours degree in Bachelors of Arts, majoring in Multimedia and Political Science. She loves digital art, graphic design and anything that allows her to express her creativity. She is passionate about social justice issues and cares deeply about making a space for marginalized people in the arts welcome, Sukaina!

A 4th year McMaster student who enjoys creative writing and directing both in film and on the stage. Also rewatches Starship Troopers, Citizen Kane and A Ghost Story religiously.
