While we are moving our collections and taking down past exhibits, it’s an opportunity to revisit and remember days of Cumberland’s past. Pictured here is a uniform from our Military Exhibit, it is a Pacific Coast Militia Rangers pant and jacket set. After the bombing of Pearl Harbour, there was unrest on the coasts of BC and fear set in that a Japanese invasion was pending. Unique to the coastal waters of BC the PCMR, made of mainly local loggers, fisherman, and ranchers who knew the landmarks of our natural coast well, patrolled land and water, keeping watch from 1942 to 1945. The Captain of the local No. 22 Company Cumberland was Ranger Captain W.H. Cope.

And the collection is on the move! A piano, some organs and a lot of big exhibit pieces got moved out of the museum space today to make way for the start of electrical/flooring and space upgrades.

Gathering for "Cumberland After Dark" tour. Meanwhile, back at the museum, artefacts are being wrapped in preparation for the big move prior to renovations starting. I wonder what this is?
