The Winnipeg General Strike of 1919 was an important event in our country's history. It's good to know it's being publicly commemorated right here in Winnipeg where it happened. If you don't know about it, take a few moments to search and read. it's an inspiring story of change. Workers stood up for themselves and for each other, coming together in unheard of numbers to support one another. An important movement was born from this and subsequent events of that era. A movement that continues and is still relevant today. #Solidarity

More disruption at Manitoba Hydro as the old head office will be vacated. More uncertainty and higher costs for employees as they are moved downtown. It's important to note that the "bump in pay" reported by the CBC is part of Manitoba Hydro policy but doesn't even cover the cost of a monthly bus pass, let alone parking costs of $150-200/month.

We did try. A big thank you from CUPE 998 members to Rob Altemeyer, MLA Wolseley and Steven Fletcher, MLA Assiniboia for trying to stop Bill 19 from passing. Your efforts are appreciated. Only time will tell what a convoluted mess this will turn out to be.
