Loose leash walking is a hard skill, especially for puppies! Marking with a "yes" or a click and offering a treat while our puppy is next to us will encourage them to remain there, as well as look to us for their next treat. Once this happens, you can start to mark and reward the eye contact, which will continue to encourage your puppy to stay with you. #mylo #sosmart #looseleashwalking #positivereinforcement #puppytraining #curiousnoses

@messymutts feeding mats are an easy way to add some enrichment to a raw fed dogs day. Today my four enjoyed @backtobasicsyyc Chicken Meal with green lipped mussel powder for their joints, kelp for oral health and kefir for gut health. I think they approve! . . . .... #koa #kiwi #zero #riley #messymutts #rawfeddogsofinstagram #rawfeddog #nomnom #calgarydogs #lovedogs#rescuemutt #dachshund #bichon #curiousnoses See more

Easy way to add some mental stimulation to your pups day during the polar vortex. Place some treats in the bottom of an egg carton or muffin tray and cover them with small toys. The better the toy fits, the harder it will be for your dog to get out. Problem solving can be fun and tasty! . . .... . . #curiousnoses #caninenerichment #puzzletoy #diypuzzletoy #lovedogs #brainwork #enrichment See more

TRAINING TIP TUESDAY! We can’t train a dog to NOT do something. What we CAN do is identify the behavior that is preferred and that can replace the problematic ...behavior. Then we train the behavior that we would prefer and start to implement THAT behavior. This is called an incompatible behavior, a replacement behavior, or a DRI. So instead of focusing on what you DO NOT want, focus on what you do and work from there. PS make sure that all of your dog’s natural needs are met regardless. If a dog LOVES digging, provide natural digging options so those needs are met while you use management and training if your issue is digging in inappropriate places #ccpdt #certifieddogtraining #dogtraining #americanbulldog #puppy See more
