1961 Dodge Pioneer 9 passenger station wagon. Family owned since new. Bought October 1961 Gordon Motors, Selkirk Manitoba. Currus' team completed: Removal of a non stock roof rack requiring 18 circular fillers TIG welded and metal finished. The manual tailgate was converted to power glass (original option on the car). This work included fitting and TIG welding a filler panel for the old key and hand crank and creating new openings for the power tailgate ornament (Dodge's desc...ription) and electric motor fitment. An original dash control switch was located and installed with a new fabricated electrical harness. The harness install required removing most of the interior panels down the left side of the car as well as the left taillight assembly. Currus also completed work on the power brake conversion and rear traction bar. If you see this car at a local event take a moment to speak with the owners. The car has a very interesting family history they would be pleased to share. See more

This year many worthy charities are challenged to meet the needs with the difficulties of Covid-19. The Christmas season will soon be here and the Kruise For Kids 2020 has again stepped up to assist. Please consider participating in this automotive event or making a donation. https://raceroster.com//kruise-for-kids-charity-raffle-rad

At Currus we have been privileged to meet a lot of amazing people and their incredible cars. The first time I saw this race car was at Jack's house in his living room. Years later, Currus was approached by Wendy Anne and John to undertake a restoration of the race car. The majority of the work was performed in the fabrication shop, however the final assembly was completed in the "clean room" front office. These cars were purpose built to go fast and nothing else. They had a gas pedal, an externally mounted hand brake that worked one rear corner drum and no safety gear. The pilots of these cars may have been smaller in stature but showed enormous bravery.

This 64 Monza Spyder was just in for a service and inspection preparing it for another summer of enjoyable miles. We've done a number of Corvairs, two Greenbiers and three cars. They are a unique piece of automotive history with a dedicated following. Corvairs were a complete design departure from the typical vehicle of the day making them an enjoyable challenge for sourcing some of the parts and tuning.

Flanging the edges of a trunk pan. It's a multi step process. First, a tipping die is used to create the right angle edge. Second (this video), the radius die is used. The radius die creates a factory stamped appearance and is much less susceptible to fatigue cracking. Practice passes were made before the machine was turned on. It takes group coordination to make all this work. A mistake can ruin a lot of preperation. Trevor and Matt did a perfect job of controlling the feed rate and allignment. I maintained the panel angle in the tooling. Each of the tooling sets requires multiple passes with each pass progressing the die into the punch a specific distance.

We are building a new trunk floor for a project. It was decided to make the entire pan from a single piece of cold rolled 18 gauge. The pan begins in the rear of the cabin and extends all the way to the trunk rear panel. The rise over the differential is a long sweeping curve. To produce this a roll form was fabricated. The drum follower has multiple mounting points so it can be adjusted to create the correct curve. An inclinometer was attached to the lever arms to permit accu...rate repeatability. Test bends were made to establish the arced sections and then templates with the strait sections included. A cross section template was made to check the work as it progressed.. Once the blank was formed the flanged edges we created on the Pullmax in a two step process. The Pullmax forming effected the curvature along the edges. The edge distortion was corrected with the the shrinker and stretcher. The result is a smooth consistent trunk pan that fits perfectly. Current project in the shop has Wilwood brakes on all four corners. Superlite 12.88" 6 piston up front, Superlite 12.88" 4 pistion on the differential. Pedal assembly needs to mount between the fabricated floor pan and a custom Art Morrison chassis. Tilton provided the pedal assembly and three cylinders. Each cylinder has a bore diameter specific to the application, front brakes, rear brakes, clutch. The remote dual brake booster will mount in a compartment between the cabin and trunk. The vacuum pump is 100% duty cycle and only produces 73 dbA. The vacuum pump will maintain the remote dual brake booster.

With two recent crew additions certain equipment upgrades became a necessity. The old Danby has been re-purposed as a reversing global warming special beverage volume storage device.

Donut Derelicts car show takes place every Saturday morning at Adams Ave Donuts, 9015 Adams Ave, Huntington Beach Ca. Julie and I were in Newport Beach the first week in February and decided to attend. We arrived a little before 8:00 am and things were already starting to wrap up. The donut shop said cars start arriving at 4:00 am. Adams Ave donut shop opens by 5:00 to serve brewed coffee and bakery fresh in house made donuts. A fresh glazed donut and hot coffee are a must. Typical Huntington beach warm air and morning ocean fog surround everything. There are clouds of fog floating around and the sun is just a pale yellow dot in the sky. The variety of makes and builds is fantastic. If you are ever down that way you've got to attend, but get there early (really early!)

Acrophobiacs Car-B-Q. Matt invited Josh and I to attend the clubs annual Car-B-Q on Sunday September 15. Patrons at the shop would have seen the club's event poster out front. The rain came in heavy waves for most of the day but that didn't dampen anyone's commitment to having fun. The BBQ food was really good, the raffle prizes were plentiful, and the participants were generous with their monies towards their charity. Rick humored everyone as MC and as he finished the clouds parted and the sun began to appear. Thank you to Matt and the Acrophobiacs for the invitation and inclusion in an enjoyable afternoon.
