I was inspired to write this after reading simething similar from another priest on social media. This evening, I visited a priest friend that I hadn’t seen in awhile. We talked about many things, but the greatest joy was to simply spend time with a brother priest. I can talk with my brothers in a way that I can't with most others, as we have a unique perspective that is shared and common joys and burdens that we share. For forgiveness to be complete, there needs to be restitution. Forgiveness is not a blank check. It's an opportunity, offered in grace, to right a wrong without fear of retribution or retaliation.

Today on a Piece for Peace - Counteracting the Shame Spiral. As the second wave continues it is not uncommon, nor surprising, that older feelings of shame are resurfacing - sometimes seemingly out of nowhere. Here's what to do about it. Be blessed. Be a blessing.

Today on a Piece for Peace - I answer another question from a listener: What did it feel like to make the video about shame? The answer was surprisingly hopef...ul. It reveals a path from Grief to Gratitude. On a humorous note - you'll hear some "backwards" phrases a couple of times. Bilingual folk will get this. French syntax is often backwards to English Be blessed - be a blessing.

TODAY on a PIECE for PEACE: What do you do if you are stuck on the "Island of Sadness"? Just a quick note - given that this is a sensitive topic I did not push... the limits. If you or someone you know is really stuck, please do not ignore the symptoms. Reach out where ever feels safest and get the process of moving through the sadness started. There are a few extras in the comments. You can find them by expanding the video. Thanks for watching. Be blessed. Be a blessing.

Can't See the Forest From the Trees? Here is a simple THREE STEP process to sort things out. It's tied to understanding the relationship between your sadness... and your anger based emotions, thoughts and feelings. A little bit more academic than usual - but really important, I think, for the moment we find ourselves in this 2nd wave. Be blessed. Be a blessing.

TOXIC Times - How to set personal boundaries during COVID. It's not the same now. (Including a word about how to best support school staff - and although I didn't think to say it in the video - let's not forget daycares.)

Are you "flat lining"? Like food that has lost its taste, are you finding that your energy is somehow lacking ? Today on a Piece for Peace we're going to look ...at separation distress - the phenomenon that syphons your energy. And we're going to look at important first steps to address it in a way that will in fact make us more resilent. With thanks to my friends Peter Woods and Molly Bell for outstanding messages this past Sunday.
