Custom Harmonicas by Andrew Zajac 21.01.2021

This is my retail packaging. You can recycle or compost it! This is how I send my product to dealers. I hand-finish each comb. I do one last check (and corre...ct) flatness on every single comb as one of the last steps. Then it goes into a paper wrapper to protect against scuffs and fingerprints along with a helpful instruction sheet. I indicate the color and model on each wrapper and sign and date. See more

Things have been very busy! I have been struggling to get my production times back down to what they were in 2016 and I was making some progress. But orders a...re on the rise and there are only so many hours in a day! I will not be able to reduce my wait times any time soon. I'd rather you know up front how long it will take rather than make a promise I can't keep. Thanks everyone for your patience!

Here's a limited time offer from Rockinronsmusic and Tomlin Leckie for those who like to do a little more than just gapping. Buy the Extended French Tuner and g...et an F-tool for free! http://rockinronsmusicsd.com/french-tuner-by-andrew-zajak.h http://tomlinharmonicalessons.com//andrew-zajac-french-tu/ The goal of this set of tools is to move players with basic tweaking skills (Example, those who only adjust gaps) to advanced beginner or intermediate level tweaking. Here are two reasons why you may want to step a little beyond just gapping. 1. Precise tuning can make your harp sound better than the sum if its parts. Chords will sound much more powerful if you tune the fifths and thirds in relation to the tonic. Octaves can sound good all the way up the harp. How many players shy away from the top end because they just can't get those upper octaves to sound right. Your audience can definitely hear the difference between a harp that's in tune and one that is not. The Extended French Tuner will help you tune the blow plate octaves, thirds and fifths. 2. Sometimes, gapping doesn't work. Sooner or later, we all encounter a harmonica that just won't play well even though we've taken the usual steps to tweak it. It's frustrating. But there is always a reason why it doesn't play well and it's often something you can address easily. If the reed plates are not straight and the harp is not airtight, you will often need to tighten the gaps a lot more than you would like to in order to get the instrument to respond. This is especially evident on the 2 and 3 hole draw bends. You may also encounter the confusing situation where you adjust the harp to your liking with the covers on, but as soon as you tighten the cover plate screws, everything goes to pot. The F tool will help you address these issues. It's precise work, but with a little practice, anyone can do it.

I've been getting emails almost every week from folks telling me my combs are the flattest ones out there. They often tell the same story of some mysterious pr...oblem with response or stiff reeds suddenly disappearing when they installed one of my combs. I check every single comb (both sides, both axes) and flatten them by hand. I take nothing for granted. Upon final inspection, only one of the combs in this photo needed some serious flatness correction. But they all got checked! For speedy delivery, get my combs from Rockinronsmusic: http://rockinronsmusicsd.com//custom-combs-by-andrew-zajac European harmonicists, stay tuned! I will soon have a dealer to offer you speedy delivery of my custom harmonicas, tools and combs. (Coming soon!)

After years of hard work, I am humbled to have gotten the news from Joe Filisko this morning: "I'm happy to say that Andrew Zajac has PASSED the rigorous tests ...and is now officially part of the Hohner Affiliated Customizer Program." Thank you so much, Joe! This is only the beginning - I intend to work just as hard and continuously strive to produce a better harp.
