Cumberland Recreation January singles play Singles pickleball begins January 4 at the Cumberland Recreation Centre! Drop in for a fun, fast and physically distanced game of pickleball! Due to COVID-19, pickleball is currently singles play only and all players must bring their own ball or purchase one for $4. We will play with two courts at a time, with only two players per court. While inside our facilities, a face mask must be worn at all times that you are not actively pl...aying. When you register for a time, you are essentially booking a court; sign up yourself, and then enter the name and phone number or email address of your playing partner when prompted. Cost is $6 and you can register here. Comox Community Centre January singles play Singles Play only at this time until we hear any further guidelines. Registration begins 5 days prior (to the hour/minute). Times and dates are same as what is listed in the Rec Guide, however no designated levels of play as participants will register themselves and their partner to ensure you know who you are playing with. All players must wear a mask to and from Gym A/B, however are not required to wear it during play. Regist...ration and completing required questions at time of registration are mandatory for contact tracing. Payment is for both players at time of registration. Indoor Singles at Comox Community Centre Next Week: Comox Community Centre is bringing some cheer to the pickle ball community and is inviting you to play Pickleball (SINGLES only) for the week of Monday Dec 28th- Thursday December 31st. Registration is required. No drop-ins will be permitted.... Register with these few steps: 1) Pick a partner 2) Decide what day and time slot works best for you and your partner à Monday Dec 28th Thursday Dec 31st | 9-10:30am| 11-12:30pm | 1:00-2:30pm 3) One partner will register on behalf of themselves and their partner and they must have an ActiveNet account set up through Comox Rec in order to register. This can be done at https://www.comox.ca/modx/recreation/ 4) Once signed in, search ‘Singles Pickleball’ and register for the preferred date and timeslot on either Court 1 or Court 2 5) When you arrive at Comox Community Centre to play, both you and your partner will sign in at the front office of Comox Community Centre before play 6) During play, players will play with their partner only; there is no partner mixing during the designated timeslot To increase opportunities for play, please only sign up for one timeslot a day.

All Pickleball Play, Indoors and Outdoors is Suspended Until Further Notice by Order of the Provincial Health Officer. Members of the Comox Valley Pickleball Association: We have received clarification from Via Sport re: the December 2 Order of the Provincial Health Officer: "Pickleball doubles play is NOT permitted .....effective immediately" This applies to indoor and outdoor pickleball play. The exceptions are for players under 19 years of age, and high performance athlet...es as identified by the Canadian Sports Institute Pacific. Suggested Play Times Discontinued The Comox Valley Pickleball Association Board of Directors has decided that our Suggested Play Times will be discontinued as of Wednesday December 2. Beginning on Wednesday, all outdoor play schedules will be open. The CVPA Suggested Play Times will be reinstated in the Spring of 2021. For the safety of all of our members, we ask that all players continue to play according to the CVPA Guidelines for Safe Play during the COVID-19 pandemic. A...s COVID-19 is making its presence felt even more in our Province, it is important to follow our playing protocols for the safety and enjoyment of pickleball in our Comox Valley. These guidelines are posted at the courts, as well as stated on our website. Thank You to all of our members who have followed the playing guidelines this past year.
