We could not have asked for a better turnout this monday for the opening ceremonies to Police Week! People young and old had the opportunity to see the different divisions and learn more about the fantastic work being done by Greater Sudbury Police Service.
Only a few more days until Police Week! We hope everyone can join us at Science North on Monday for a fun and informative evening.
If you are between the ages of 15-29 and looking for a fulfilling volunteer experience then look no further than the Chief's Youth Advisory Council. All applications within the given age range will be accepted but preference will be given to students currently in high school. The recruitment period for new members of CYAC will be held until Wednesday May 8th 2019. If you are interested, please submit a resume and 2 reference letters. With your application, you are also asked... to submit a response to the question below. This can be in the form of a written reply, poem, video or other form of art. We are interested in your inquisitiveness, commitment, and the reason you want to belong to CYAC. Consider what you believe you would bring to the group including ways you have contributed to family, friends, school and/or the community. If you were a member of CYAC how would you apply what you know to ensure the statement below becomes a reality? Please mail, deliver or email all submission to: Chief’s Youth Advisory Council c/o Human Resources Greater Sudbury Police Services 190 Brady St. Sudbury, ON P3E IC7 [email protected] If you have any questions or concerns send us a message or reference the images posted below!
Thank you to Sudbury & Area Victim Services / Services aux victimes du Grand Sudbury for coming in and making a presentation to our council this week. It was an informative session on the topic of human trafficking awareness and definitely left us with a lot to think about.
Throw back to a couple of weeks ago when we had the chance to participate in the annual Polar Plunge! It was amazing to see the Sudbury community out in full force supporting a wonderful cause.
Often, we get asked by young people about the role of the Chief's Youth Advisory Council. The council is designed to bring the voices of a diverse group of youth directly to the Chief of Police. A core component of our meetings and our role is the monthly Chief's Corner that we prepare for, and take part in. For the Chief's corner we discuss topics related to the community that directly affect youth like human trafficking awareness, the role of policing and issues facing young people in school or in the community.
