Racism and discrimination have no place in child and youth care practice or in our educational settings. We write this to express our solidarity with Black Communities globally. Silence is not an option and as a Board we will work towards adding a standard of accreditation to CYC post-secondary education which requires programs to engage with the ways in which anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism is addressed in their curricula and in learning spaces. We call for effective a...nd sustainable change within each of us personally, our educational organizations and society at large. The current events are a reminder that each of us as individuals has a responsibility to do better. We must examine our systems, regulations, policies and curriculum in CYC Education and look for opportunities to enhance the discourse about anti Black racism and systems of oppression present where CYCPs learn and work. We would like to highlight the dedication to delivering quality CYC education and training by George Brown College, University of Strathclyde, Fleming College, Cambrian College, Humber ITAL, Medicine Hat College, Lethbridge College and MacEwan University! We have 6 more in progress!!!!!!
