Hey Cyclepalooza folks, We hope you continue to be safe and well with lots of wheeling this summer and fall. Our friends and fellow advocates at Bike Calgary have their AGM tomorrow evening, and we encourage you to tune-in, get involved. Details in their post.
Hey #yycbike Folks, the Green Line Vote has been moved to tomorrow, Tuesday. If you haven't please write a letter of support for the Green Line Stage 1 Alignment to your Cllr. Make sure your voice is heard. Search Cllr/Ward you live/work in here: https://calgary.ca/citycouncil/Pages/WardBoundaryMap.aspx #yyc4transit #naturalmodalallies Here's some Calgarians for Transit Tips below (grabbed from Twitter):
An Open Letter to The Calgary Police Service, Local Media, and City of Calgary Administration "Over the past two weeks alone there have been 4 reported cyclist collisions, and this number onlytakes into account the collisions that have had an impact on vehicle movements. These incidents, and the media coverage of them, demonstrate that we need to request, again, that incidents involvingvulnerable road users be reported in a fair manner. These are our sisters, our brothers, ou...r children, our parents, our grandparents, our grandchildren, our aunts, our uncles, our friends, our neighbours, our leaders, our colleagues, our teammates, our coaches." (Head to @bikecalgary, for their media release. They have shared the link to the document on their website: https://bikecalgary.org/bike-calgary-media-release-regardi/)
Remember when we made the Calgarians for Cycle Tracks happen? We need to do the same for the Green Line, and we need to do it this weekend! #yycbike we need you to get busy showing your support for the #GreenLineYYC our active transportation network ally. Let #yyccc know that #yycbike is also #yyc4transit. https://projectcalgary.org/yyc4transit_diy to engage. #yycbike #yyc4transit #GreenLineYYC #modalallies #yyccc #MoreRollLessPush
Cycling and rapid transit are natural modal allies. The Green Line will impact surrounding land use and connections that will be favourable to cycling and walking. Please consider the following [copied] : The Green Line Committee meeting on June 1 is fast approaching, the deadline to write to committee about your support is tomorrow, Monday May 25 at NOON (form: https://forms.calgary.ca//public-submission-to-city-clerks) and, you can speak at committee without having t...o go to City Hall by phoning in. Just email [email protected] to register. Finally, the petition folks have launched a DIY toolkit to show support for the Green Line during the pandemic. There's a selfie campaign where you take a picture with your and/or your family with a sign and use #YYC4transit, print off the beautiful window sign they designed and display it from your home, your car, etc and if you're a Twitter user, use the Twibbon link to automatically add a banner to your profile. All of this can be found at the link below: https://www.projectcalgary.org/yyc4transit_diy
Today's an ANNIVERSARY of the initial 'YES' vote at #YYCCC for original downtown cycle track network, April 28th, 2014. A nail biter of a day, we remember it vividly alongside our fellow advocates, businesses, citizens, policy makers, and politicians. THANK YOU! To more !
