As many of you have noticed, various governing bodies have been changing their recommendations daily. Cygnet Dental has, and continues to abide by recommendations of the Alberta Dental Association and College. There are also governing bodies outside our province that have issued more conservative recommendations and w...e wish to always err on the side of caution and take the approach with the least risk for our community. We are closing for this week as we digest all the recommendations and we hope to reopen on Monday, March 23rd (next week) to carry on servicing Grande Prairie. If you have an emergency, please call us (780-532-1387) during our closure. The Alberta Dental Association and College has informed dentists that we are an important part of our healthcare system and our ability to stay open and serve will ensure hospitals do not get overwhelmed. Patients currently deemed high-risk if infected with COVID-19 may receive a call from us asking to be re-booked. Your appointments will otherwise be kept. Please expect to have additional screenings performed including a temperature check as a precaution. Hi Grande Prairie, Were getting ready to re-open Cygnet Dental. The Alberta Dental Association has announced that starting May 4th, clinics are permitted to provide urgent and emergency care. Some examples of urgent dental care include pain, infection, fractured teeth, and final cementation of crowns. If you are unsure if you qualify for urgent treatment, please call us and we would be happy to assess each case individually. We will also be calling patients who have contacte...d us with urgent care needs to schedule them. This upcoming week we are securing some additional personal protective equipment and getting fit-tested for respirators to ensure that we are keeping our staff and our community safe. We are currently booking urgent care for the week of May 11th but as always, Dr. Chan is available on an emergency basis should you require to be seen before then. For everyones safety, we have implemented new safety protocols. Every patient will be pre-screened for travel history, contact with others who are ill, and symptoms such as the following: Fever > 38C Cough Sore Throat Shortness of Breath Difficulty Breathing Flu-like symptoms Runny Nose If you have any symptoms or are in a high-risk category (such as patients with a chronic illness like COPD) we will try our best to manage your condition remotely. Upon arrival, we will take your temperature and provide you with some mouth rinse prior to starting. To minimize the number of people in our office, we would ask for any companions to please remain in the vehicle. You can also expect that our staff members are going to look a little different under all our enhanced protective gear but we are still the same people under there! After May 14th, the ADA will lift further restrictions on treatment which may allow for more treatment options. Stay tuned!

Please keep in mind that if you have an emergency, our clinic IS available to help, but you MUST call in advance to notify us. We are accepting new patients as well, but to minimize risks related to Covid-19, we are pre-screening all patients by phone. Everyone must call 780-532-1387. An emergency line will be provided in the voicemail if no one picks up.
