"IN THE DARK", is the name of this piece. I rarely give explanations for my pieces, but today I feel it is necessary. The black background represents COMPLIANCY. Choosing to be "in the dark" about what is really happening in our world. Hate is everywhere, and we choose not to see.... BUT! "In the dark" - the colour of skin cannot be seen, only the touch of another human can be felt. "In the dark" - we are blind, our other senses become heightened, making human touch more important then it ever has been before. "In the dark" - we are venerable and equal, we are stronger together. This is not just a problem for people of colour, it is a problem for the HUMAN RACE. Finding each other "in the dark" and coming together is the only way through...the only way out of the dark.
