This is something I have experienced in Shorthills. It wasn’t fun! When you are in public, leash your dogs!!! I am a big believer in home is home. Public is public. In public there are unknown factors that will distract the best trained dogs. For the safety of your dog and the others around it. LEASH YOUR DOGS IN PUBLIC!!!! I don’t care how much training your dog has as much as you wouldn’t care if you met my dogs in public....

Ok!!! Here is something that not everyone is going to love to see. But something that is so natural to our dogs!!! Wolf dogs require a quite natural raw diet...with that in mind; foods they love and should be eating include: raw bones, organs, all types of meat and anything else off most pray animals that most butchers wouldn’t sell people from their shops. The most common meats for wolf dogs to eat are quite natural to their environment back in Czech Republic. This includes... chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits deer, lamb and even beef. Most wolf dogs do eat pork but it is actually a common allergy in the breed. Kiska is allergy to pork. Photos are of Uro with fresh raw ribs from a deer. This is their favourite time of year as October and November is hunting season here in Ontario, many friends drop off treats for the dogs during this time and they all couldn’t be happier!!!! When looking into a breed with roots so close to their wolf counterparts, owners most remember what they need to stay the healthiest isn’t always something most people are comfortable touching, sorting/storing or buying. There are some great dry foods or kibbles on the market these days that can give your Wolfdog an ok balanced diet. But they aren’t cheap!! These dogs need a high end food (dry or raw) to stay healthy and keep up their energy. As their metabolisms burn fat so quickly; they actually eat double to triple the recommended amount most veterinarians or food companies would recommend for most other large domesticated dog breeds. Uro eats about 6lbs of raw food a day compared to Hilux who eats 2lbs a day. Although Hilux is smaller in height, they weigh the same!!! Remember to do your research and really invest in your pet! Just a little appreciation post for Hilux :) he does so much for Kiska and Uro!! We love having the wolfdogs but with such strong personalities in the house; it’s always a great idea to have a social and outgoing breed along side them. This helps them to bounce social cues off the other dog when experiencing new things and meeting new people. :) Hilux is so friendly, loves everyone and is easy to get along with. Uro and Kiska look to his reaction most times when we’re out and about before reacting on their own. This!!! I don’t care how well others have their dogs trained. I don’t care how amazing their recall is. Just as much as I’m sure the person walking towards me and my dogs doesn’t care about my training and their recall... I have been met by so many aggressive dogs and arrogant owners not only with my dogs but out with my horses that I can’t stress this enough home is home and public is public. Respect others and leash your dogs!

THIS!!!!!! All we ask is for anyone messaging us or looking into a breed does their own research; for us and our breed we ask you to read articles, look up videos on YouTube, and ask questions after please!!!! All dogs have a job that they are born to do. An instinct that is in their DNA. And not every cool looking breed is easy to partner with, working with or train. Some need their person to really understand them, their work ethic and energy. ... Some like ours; need space. Need room to run and explore. To work.
