While we’ve missed having our corporate partners come by the warehouse to help volunteer and sort food throughout the pandemic, we're grateful for all the ways they continue to support us in any way that they can! We want to give a big thank you to our friends at The Home Depot Canada for their decade long partnership. Over the last 10 years they have been incredible partners in our fight against hunger, and this past year was no different. Thank you, Home Depot, for your continued support and ensuring that everyone’s right to food is realized in communities across Toronto! #ThankfulThursday #DailyBreadTO
We want to give a big THANK YOU to our friends at Great Lakes Brewery who stopped by Daily Bread yesterday! Through their 12th annual Hops for Hunger campaign, they donated $10,881! Thanks to everyone who donated and purchased cans of the Belgian Winter Ale & the White Eggnog Stout. We're so grateful for our community! #HopsforHunger #DailyBreadTO #Toronto #foodbank... https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/10881-raised-in-hops-for-hu/
Last year, over 8 million pounds of food provided by Daily Bread Food Bank to agencies across #Toronto were items like dairy products, fruits and vegetables, and meat and alternatives. Over half of this food is fresh which means it’s perishable, not dry/shelf stable, or frozen! We are so grateful to all of our food donors for joining Daily Bread’s work to end hunger in Toronto and for providing fresh, local, nourishing food for thousands of families in need. #NationalMilkDay #DailyBreadTO

Our warehouse, production floor, and hearts are so full #Toronto! Despite having to cancel our holiday events, because of YOUR generosity we can continue to ensure that our neighbours experiencing food insecurity have their right to food realized. Our extraordinary team of staff and volunteers are working hard to sort all of the food donations we've received over the holidays which is no small task! We have been blown away by all the ways our community has come together to collect food and funds in support of Daily Bread. Comment below to send some love to YOU our incredible supporters - we couldn't do it without you! #WeAreDailyBread #WarehouseWednesday
This year’s #WhosHungry2020 report reveals that prior to COVID-19, food bank use had already increased by 5% compared to the previous year with close to one million visits in the city of Toronto the same level as peak following the 2008-09 financial crisis. With the arrival of COVID-19, food bank visits continue to climb significantly, increasing by 22% in June to a staggering 51% in August compared to the previous year. Additional government action is needed to prevent skyrocketing food bank use during COVID-19 from becoming another long-term crisis. Learn more at dailybread.ca/whoshungry
Food is a human right, yet 85% of survey respondents from #WhosHungry2020 reported that they did not always have enough food to eat, even after accessing food banks. All levels of government are in the process of developing plans for economic recovery. This is an opportunity to listen to the voices of those experiencing food insecurity and put poverty reduction at the core of recovery efforts.
