Our first puppy Linus, from our first litter in 2008 with his new sister Daphne (Fiddle) in Connecticut and their family. Mom Lis is the photographer. To all of the folks looking for puppies or waiting for emails, it’s awhile before we’ll have anything available and we thank you for your patience. You’ll hear back from us in due course. Right now I am focusing on catching up loose ends from 2020 for dog registrations, T4s and getting ready to do our taxes.

Visitors in masks today- thank you Mike and Heather (our trainer) for stopping in to see the puppies! Featuring Fiddle and Beck.
Every single day we’re practicing different types of training with the babies to prepare them for their loving families who will (hopefully) be up to the task of keeping these pups’ minds and bodies busy and fulfilled. Tollers are NOT for everyone. They are NOT a great first dog. They can be reactive, shy, aggressive and poorly behaved in different settings and I don’t think the Toller community talks about it enough. Put brains, prey drive and sensitivity into a compact, powerful and athletic little body and you get a crazy redhead called a Toller. We have a mob of them and they challenge us regularly. These characteristics need to be understood and managed with love and compassion; for they are NOT an easy dog.
Britney and I working on box game from Puppy Culture - she is offering interaction with the puppy bed in exchange for a click and treat.

Cornflake’s family: It was a long journey. We are the type of people that come by big decisions deliberately and with thorough consideration. We spent the first couple of years of our relationship discussing what we would want in a dog, what breed was a good fit for us, and when the right time was. Coincidentally, we stumbled across the Toller breed each on our own. We both thought it seemed like a fantastic breed that checked all the boxes of what we were looking for. We eac...Continue reading

The 90s pups got a big new space today
Chilly loves cheese . #chillydaintree
Why do dogs have sharp teeth and know how to growl and communicate with their body language? In part, to guard their resources. Resource guarding is a normal, instinctual behaviour. Why do we lock our doors? To guard our resources. Why do we have passwords? To guard our resources. Our dogs exist today because their ancestors were able to guard enough resources to survive and protect their young. Resource guarding is natural. ... To combat extreme resource guarding in older dogs, we acclimate or tame them to human approach. We introduce the puppies to some non-traumatic challenges at a young age. Owners absolutely must continue the exercises in a fun, friendly and compassionate manner to be able to take things away from their dogs in the future. One of the basic protocols is adding food to the dish. Spokesdog: Elmo Items used: ground raw duck and bits of cooked pork liver. (You might want the sound on for how cute this is.)
Chilly still allows her pups to nurse for short periods of time at almost 7 weeks old. Considering they have mouths full of sharp teeth, she might just be a doggie saint. #motherhood #caninemothering #chillydaintree #daintree90slitter
Spot all 4. At almost 2 weeks old, our Apple pups are motoring, vocalizing and almost have their eyes open. Two are red nosed and two are black.
Toller foot vs Grinch foot
Each one of us (including staff and volunteers) works with our puppies every single day. We complete their Puppy Culture exercises, do several manding sessions throughout the day, plan, thaw and serve them their raw food menus, keep them clean and their housing clean, wash their dishes, wash, dry and fold their laundry, cuddle them, and keep their parents, grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts happy and healthy. I personally put everything I have into them. Will they be perfect? Nope, but they have a solid foundation and a fighting chance. These photos depict 100% attention during a manding session by 13 puppies.
The Big Easy litter was neither big nor easy and we had so MANY great New Orleans names picked out to use! But Piper, Hamilton and Mother Nature decided 3 was enough . Meet Bobby Boucher, NoLa and Praline. #daintreebigeasylitter #bobbyboucherdaintree #noladaintree #pralinedaintree #piperbijoudaintree (Appreciate the interest but these sweet puppies are all spoken for.)
Just snuggling with Cannoli and the Apple Dumpling Gang.
