Well, this is it. The final goal of my #2021Twenty and I’ve saved the best for last. Or at least the most exciting one. The only problem is that I can’t tell you about it yet. For my oldest friends, the ones I’ve known the longest, this is par for the course. I was infamous for this as I constantly posted teasers and anticipation builders for concerts and events I was producing. Due to contracts and confidentiality agreements, we had specific dates we had to abide by, and... most often we couldn't let the primary details slip out, just peripheral details like perhaps the date and location. It was like a "save the date" if you will. Well, just like old times I started a new project a few months ago with a friend. We have it tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 26th. But with everything that's happening in the world, we just want to wait a little longer before we make the big announcement. The last thing we want is to get everyone excited, and then have to retract the announcement. So, unfortunately for now, that's all I can say, but just know we're hard at work on something very exciting. In fact, tomorrow we have another very important meeting that will shed a lot of light on the future of this project. Hopefully by April we will know if we can release all the details or not. Lets just say I've already got a bottle of Coca~Cola and a Mars bar ready. Stay tuned! https://www.daleallenberg.com/post/2021twenty-june

I like to have fun. I like to laugh. I like to tease people. I like to pull pranks; and if I’m ever pranked in return, most often I will find it hilarious and congratulate you on a well played situation. As you can see from the picture below, this way of life has already been passed down to my kids. April 1st is a day made for me. I look forward to it every year. Not only do I absolutely love hearing about all the enormous pranks created by companies, but I also love atte...mpting to create my own. The 19th goal of my #2021Twenty is to create an epic April Fools Day prank. I am fully aware that this sort of thing is supposed to be kept a secret to enhance the element of surprise, but I suppose I’m wanting a bit more of a challenge this year. Today’s goal might seem to some like the obvious continuation of yesterday’s goal, but I can assure you selling our house and finding another one to purchase are two completely different and unique challenges. All I know for sure is that like I said yesterday, we need a bigger home, and once we’ve sold our current home, finding that bigger home is the next step and the third goal on my #2021Twenty To read the full post, click the link below. ... https://www.daleallenberg.com/post/2021twenty-buy

It’s no coincidence I’m following yesterday’s goal of living with today’s goal regarding death. Like a lot of content creators, I plan and schedule my posts in advance, so I’ve known the entire list of goals for a month now, and arranged them in an order that I liked and when I got to these two goals, I thought it would be fitting to put them back to back with each other. What I didn’t plan for was that a horrific real life example would make this goal even more of a prio...rity for me. Judge me and condemn me if you feel you must, but I don’t have a will. You can click the link below to find out why not, but in the mean time preparing a will and assigning guardianship is the 18th goal of my #2021Twenty and I am going to DEMAND that it be completed. https://www.daleallenberg.com/post/2021twenty-will

We are out of space. This house was too small when we moved in over four years ago with two adults, a one-year-old and two infants. Try to imagine how we feel NOW, four years later! It’s time to move on. The second goal of my #2021Twenty is to sell my house. To read the full post, click the link below as always. https://www.daleallenberg.com/post/2021twenty-sell

To kick things off with my first goal of my #2021Twenty, I’ve got some unfinished business from last year. If you want to read the whole post and come along on this journey with me, click the link below now. If you’re just here for the Coles Notes, well then I had 20 goals last year. I accomplished 7 of them, which means 13 were left unfinished. Most of them are really good goals, so I’m gonna try to accomplish them here in the new year.... That’s my first goal of my #2021Twenty https://www.daleallenberg.com/post/unfinished-business

I have come to see the world differently this past year. I think everyone has in their own way, and I’m very disappointed in what I’ve seen. It’s opened my eyes to a lot of things that have existed for as long as I’ve been alive, but as we’ve all been isolating some things have come into focus for me like never before. My 17th goal is my most personal one. It’s a mindset and probably one most people wouldn’t share publicly. I want to get busy living. ... It all began in 2016. You see I’ve always set New Year's resolutions but I’ve always failed. Until 2016. Now New Year's Resolutions'' have gotten a bad rap in recent years. But goal setting is encouraged. Go figure. But that’s all a resolution is. A resolution is simply a firm decision to do or not to do something. It got me thinking... if you don’t set any goals, nothing will get accomplished. But if you shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll still end up among the st...ars! So, last year playing with the number 20, I initiated what I called my #2020Twenty. Twenty goals in the year 2020. It went so well (in my opinion) I’m doing it all over again! It is devastating to think that five years have passed since my twins were born. Where has the time gone? It has been such a difficult season for us, yet while the days have been so very long, the years have actually slipped by far too quickly. This year both Madison and Ethan turn five, which means they are due to begin kindergarten. Can you believe that?!? Now while this is something every parent of a five-year-old HAS to do, the journey I’m about to embark on is far fro...m typical. That is why I’ve made Kindergarten transition an official goal on my #2021Twenty. Here is what the year 2020 looked like on social media for me. I was so excited to see that my blog from February 28th about Ethan standing on his head, was the most liked post of the year. Finding a new perspective on a problem - like standing on your head, is a form of resilience that I’m not sure many people apply to their life. I want this to become a signature theme in my public speaking and in my book, especially because Ethan has taken this concept and literally pro...ves its value every day. It’s interesting to note that I wrote this just before the world fell apart for so many people. I have to wonder if standing on their head would have helped them through 2020. It sure did for us. But then even though she lost the top spot on my feed this year, Madison still dominated the page and the likes given by you - and rightly so. She had an amazing year of growth in standing unassisted for the first time, in taking some (assisted) steps on her journey of learning to walk, and discovering some very meaningful and intentional hand movements. Your support in cheering her along has been priceless and so meaningful to us as often it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Finally, Liam made it into the Top Nine too with his first school dance. Of everyone, I think he struggled the most this past year. His first year of school was disrupted just a few weeks after that dance, and while I tried to shield him and make the best of it, it was the lack of closure that affected him the most. Furthermore, the events of 2020 didn’t make logical sense to him. Go figure, a five-year-old outthinking our leaders and asking logical questions that no one seems to have an answer for. But he fought his way through and while it was tough at times to watch him struggle, in the end I am proud of the resilience he too is developing. Who will take the top spot in 2021? I have a feeling that we’ll have a new champion once again. I guess you’ll have to keep following along to find out. In the meantime as we enter a new year, don’t just learn, experience. Don’t just read, absorb. Don’t just change, transform. Don’t just relate, advocate. Don’t just promise, prove. Don’t just criticize, encourage. Don’t just think, ponder. Don’t just take, give. Don’t just see, feel. Don’t just dream, do. Don’t just hear, listen. Don’t just talk, act. Don’t just tell, show. Don’t just exist, live. Till next year
