Tonight’s Kelowna Dale Carnegie Course Graduation looked a little different than our normal Session 12. Regardless the participants of this class came together in a safe live-online environment and shared with each other their past visions, their breakthroughs from the last 12 weeks and their vision for the future. It was a privilege to watch this amazing class break free of their comfort zone! An extra congratulations to the recipient of the Highest Award of Achievement Brent Gilbert from Canadian Tire. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.... We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived felt dawn saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe To you from failing hands we throw The torch be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Having an open conversation about availability is what forms a healthy work culture. Instead of slowly watching employees burnout, talk with them and really listen to their needs. In doing so, youre improving your companys overall health, creativity, and performance.

Dont criticize. Give honest, sincere appreciation. Smile. Use the other persons name in conversation. Be a good listener. These tips are among the 10 principles that Dale Carnegie listed in his enduring best-seller, How to Win Friends and Influence People. Start out with a proper handshake, he also advised. In light of social distancing brought on by the coronavirus, Rick Gallegos, president and CEO of Dale Carnegie of Tampa Bay, talked with the #TampaBayTimes about what appears to be the demise of the handshake.

Do you know how to move your employees into the zone for optimal performance? Stretch your people by throwing down a challenge. When a manager assigns a team a difficult but achievable job, the moderate stress of the task releases neurochemicals that intensify peoples focus and strengthens social connections.
