The Dalhousie Speech-Language Clinics are operated through the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Our programs include individual and group therapy for individuals with aphasia, including primary progressive aphasia, as well as individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). We celebrate accomplishments with treats. It was a successful semester with The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. The group's final verdict for Aphasia Book Clubs is as follows: Pros - Lots of humour - Light reading... - It's far-fetched so be ready for things happening that you would not expect to happen - The story of Allen parallels with the historical aspects (this was enjoyable) - It was nice to remember the historical figures and events Cautions - A challenge to keep the villain's names organized (this took extra time) - The end finished so quickly. It would have been nice to expand this part. - The story has two plot lines so be ready for flashbacks - we liked this though - it's an exercise! Overall it is a friendly, feel-good book with some laugh-out-loud chuckles.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving from Friday Communication Group! Today was full of fun with turkeys, some competitive Bingo and a bit of reflection & writing for a Thanksgiving reflection tree.

The mail came and our books for Book Club are here! Planning is underway for both Book Club and Communication Group. We are excited to welcome new participants, new Interns, and familiar faces this fall. See you in September!
