Emilie Bourque Policy Analyst, Advanced Analytics, Department of Health and Wellness, Government of Nova Scotia Working for the Department of Health and Wellness during the COVID-19 outbreak was one of the most unique internship opportunities that I could have taken. My internship provided me with many wonderful opportunities to get involved in local projects. One such project focused on exploring existing issues with access for mental health and addictions services in Nova Scotia. I found this particular project captivating because it bridges the divide between public policy and community practices. Actively developing and engaging in a project for the government has better developed my understanding of research methods, implementation skills, and strategic awareness in management.
