Quartz VS Granite ?!?! . a design question that’s popped up a million times over the years. What’s your preference?? Granite is a very hard stone and is 100 percent natural. It’s mined from quarries all around the world! There is a limitless selection to choose from and no two granite countertops are exact the same. Granite can be cleaned daily with soap and water or a mild household cleaner. Experts recommend resealing countertops once a year. Granite is a durable mat...erial that’s resistant to heat and many other kitchen elements. Due to its porous nature though, there can be some staining if spilled liquids are left sitting and damage can be done if your counter receives a high impact blow. Quartz is slightly different in that it is not 100 percent natural. Instead, countertops are manufactured using 95 percent ground natural quartz and 5 percent polymer resins and because of this, colour selection doesn’t vary as much as granite. Since quartz is engineered, it can be more environmentally-friendly than granite. Like granite, you’ll want to clean any spills on quartz countertops with soap and water or a household cleaner, but that’s about it in terms of maintenance. The solid surface means that there is no need to have your countertops resealed. Quartz is actually harder than granite and thus, more durable. In fact, quartz is nearly indestructible, and because it isn’t porous like granite, it’s easy to keep your countertops relatively bacteria-free. Be careful with cooking pans though: Quartz can be damaged by excessive heat, so use heating pads at all times. Winter is here !!! Just a few snow & ice tips to help get you through the next few wintery months !! We thought this was fitting after what we woke up to this morning Use Cooking Spray: When the heavy, wet snow proves difficult to shovel, spray some cooking spray on your shovel. It will help you move through the snow quickly and prevent it from sticking to your shovel.... Melt Ice Quickly: If after shoveling you find ice underneath, make a salt alternative to put down on your driveway, sidewalk and front steps. Combine 1 teaspoon of dish soap, 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol and 1/2 gallon of water in a bucket and pour the mixture where you need it most. Make shoveling more comfortable: Invest in a good quality shovel! Get Out the Leaf Blower: Don't put your leaf blower away for the season, put it to your advantage! Leaf blowers work great for removing light, fluffy snow. Smart Snow Blowing: The best method to snow blow your driveway is to start in the middle and throw the snow toward one edge of the driveway. Then, make a U-Turn and come back down the other side and continue to alternate. When a scraper and elbow grease alone don’t cut through the ice on your frozen car windows or doors, prepare an old spray bottle filled with 2/3 part vinegar (any variety) and 1/3 part water. Then, spray those icy surfaces and watch them clear up before your eyes! See more
