Excited to be working with @barter.bc and Prince of Wales Secondary School on a project for their school garden space. We are working with the school to design a project that makes use of the schools facilities, and allows the teachers to use this project as content to educate their students. Today I finally got to visit to woodshop to see what kind of facilities they have. The old machines they have are in top notch condition, with lots of open space to work. Looking forward to seeing how this collaboration plays out. #BCmade

Thuja Plicata is the scientific name for Western Redcedar, hence the name "Thuja" as the name of this series for @barter.bc Produced in Langley by a BC timber master, these are what the blocks look like before they get sanded and finished. The machines that produce these are custom built, extremely accurate and produce a high finish product. Look to see these guys all dressed up at @idswest and at @barter.vancouver following the show. #BCmade #BCwood #WesternRedcedar #thuja

A little while ago myself with the help of @beaufoto set up some prototypes from @barter.bc as a fun exercise to see how the Revolve planter series worked in different formations. We had fun playing around with the different sizes, and colours, learning about how they interacted with one another. The options are limitless.... To date, this #SitkaSpruce Burl wall piece has been the most amazing piece of wood Ive ever worked with. The finished piece is hung in my hallways, and even on a grey day, it brings incredible warmth into my house. One of the permanent features at the @barterdesignco space in Vancouver will feature these pieces and other unique wood oddities that work on. Finally completed this Maple bench to go with a live edge table I completed a few months back. Been waiting to post a photo as I wanted a complete shot. Bench and table top are both made from Big Leaf Maple, which are found locally in BC. #BCwood #BCmade

A look back at an early prototype I did for the #WOOD series now available at @provide_home. This prototype is part of a set of 3, w/ each being an exploration in manipulating the natural grain by cutting a profile into the surface of the solid 1.5" thick #WesternRedCedar disc 15" in diameter. #BCmade #BCwood

This is one of multiple components for new kitchen device Ive been working on as a side project for a client. The products helps with those hard to cut fruits and vegetables (bagels to), especially for people with reduced dexterity or mobility in their hands. This is about the 6th iteration of the jaw, which is key in holding the foods still while you cut. Its been a challenge, but extremely fun to make, with the next step sorting out how to manufacture in volumes.
