We can’t wait, so excited to see this unveiling.
On July 1, 2005, the final Ford Thunderbird was produced in Wixom, Michigan. The Thunderbird was initially Ford Motor Company's response to Chevrolet’s Corvette.... While the Thunderbird boasted a V8 engine, two-seat design, convertible option and soundproofing, its comfortable interior and overall feel distinguished it from other sports cars, including the Corvette. After Ford’s unveiling of the Thunderbird at the Detroit Auto Show in 1954, over 16,000 Thunderbirds were sold in its first year of production. The T-Bird far outperformed its main competition and quickly found itself spearheading a largely untouched market, the personal luxury car. Thanks to the Thunderbird, personal luxury cars became increasingly popular over the next 30 years. The Thunderbird continued to succeed through much of that time, with Ford producing 11 generations of the car across its lifetime. Unfortunately, some of the latter generations lacked the charm of their predecessors, sacrificing the Thunderbird’s famous comfort for lighter frames and more modern designs. Ford stopped making Thunderbirds from 1997 to 2002, and after an attempted revival, Ford ultimately decided to cease production. #ThisDayInAutoHeritage
