We're well into February. Has the New Year reality hit you yet? What I mean is that many of your goals are not progressing as quickly as you'd like. When that happens, it's easy for me to be really hard on myself, which then affects my relationship with Carol and everyone else around me. I don't like that.... I've been having great success with having goals, but focussing on my intentions for each day. My results are astronomical, plus I feel great. Creating a relationship by your design takes a conscious investment of thought, time, and maybe even a bit of money. It doesn’t take much of an investment, but it needs to be consistent and intentional every day. What will the return on your investment be? Only you will know, yet it is the best investment you’ll ever make when it comes to experiencing happiness and fulfillment. Today’s task is about ASK vs. TELL. There will be a half-dozen of these ASK vs. TELL tasks... for your pleasure. We invite you to commit to do them all. Why? Consider this. How keen and excited are you if your partner tells you to do something? Most people do not like being told what to do. In fact, if someone tells me what to do, and depending on their tone of voice, my temptation is to show them they are number 1, with my middle finger. However, most people love to give and to help others. Proof of this is the feeling you get when you give a heart-felt gift at Christmas or birthdays, or charitable donations to help others who are in need. When people are asked for help in a kind and caring way, they will usually give and help generously and joyfully, if they are physically, mentally, and emotionally able. Today’s task: ASK vs. TELL (invitation #1) What one thing can you ask your partner for today? Examples: help with chores around the house/yard. Maybe not the yard - it's friggin' cold out there help with banking or paying bills to pick up groceries, or the kids for agreement to an evening out together to meet for lunch for a hug for agreement to a romantic date or even sex ???? We invite you to commit to this and follow through with your commitment to ASK. When you ask your partner, kindly, respectfully, and genuinely, you are giving your partner a gift, which he/she can and probably will fulfill by giving back. That’s a win/win for all. If you’re finding any of this task a challenge, please call us at 780-785-3700. We’ll be happy to coach you through this.
