https://www.participaction.com//benefits-an/adults-65-plus History has been made, here are the FIRST EVER guidelines Participaction Guidelines for the 65+ cr...owd. It acknowledges how important it is to keep active regardless of your age and is a great step forward in breaking the barriers for service for this age group! WELL DONE!!!! Canada's first ever 24-hour movement guidelines for adults ParticipACTION has just released Canada’s first ever 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Adults to help you support your clients. The guidelines were developed in partnership with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), the Public Health Agency of Canada, Queen’s University, as well as researchers and stakeholders from across Canada. These Guidelines offer clear direction on what a healthy 24 hour day looks like for Canadian adults aged 18-64 years and 65 years or older, and features a unique approach that moves beyond a single-movement focus, but instead looks at how all movement can be integrated together. This approach encourages sustainable and long-term healthy lifestyles by supporting moderate to vigorous physical activity, as well as muscle strengthening. In addition to your expertise as a fitness professional, you can use these guidelines when working with clients to help get them moving through body conditioning programs. The guidelines focus on three core recommendations: Move More: Add movement throughout your day, including a variety of types and intensities of physical activity Reduce Sedentary Time: Limit sedentary time to 8 hours or less per day including no more than 3 hours of recreational screen time and breaking up long periods of sitting where possible. Sleep Well: Set yourself up for 7 to 9 hours of good quality sleep on a regular basis. Consistent bed and wake up times are also key.

Good Morning all: Below is a list of the most important responsibilities for the Steward Liaison position. I agree with all of them. However, working as a fron...t line steward, working in both the community and acute systems, I found there is such a gap in what our organization writes and what members actually know. There seems to be a disconnect between the two. No blame, no finger pointing, just what I have observed. And so: I present my first campaign pledge: To meet with each steward in my region, engage in the process of how well they know their members, what activities they provide to increase their role, not just activities that promote nursing week, etc, but an informal "come for an afternoon tea and a ask any questions about their organization. The key word being "THEIR ORGANIZATION-BCNU! So, in keeping with the spirit of an election, I ask you to VOTE for JANICE Steward Liaison Simon Fraser Region! KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Responsible for overall steward resources and activities on worksites in the region Stays up to date with BCNU priorities and provincial and local issues Working with the Regional Executive Team and Full-time Stewards, and Stewards at Large strives to ensure sufficient active worksite, PRP and OH&S Stewards in each worksite to meet members needs Actively and progressively mentors stewards Organizes and evaluates regional steward activities Recruits members to become stewards Develops, maintains and revises worksite report forms for the region Maintains a file of steward commitment forms
