Happy 14th Birthday, Dance ConneXion ! THIS PAST YEAR WAS A REAL ROLLER COASTER. Studio had to shut down 3 times by government covid measures. And for the ti...mes we were allowed to open, we marketed and communicated quickly to our students, and we adapted as fast as we could to constantly changing restrictions. For the good first half of the lockdown I had myself glued to the news everyday to see when the studio can reopen. I experienced the first panic attack in my life. I cried so many tears when one blow after another were thrown my way. At one point, the dance industry petitioned for reopening (and made it!). It was an on-going battle and sleepless nights to innovate and to stay afloat to keep the doors open. I was not ready to close the school. I have been dreaming about what a 15th year anniversary party for Dance ConneXion would look like. I knew we will survive. WAS THIS PAST YEAR A WRITE OFF? As I scrolled through my photo album, I realized with innovation, adaptation, and support from the group of passionate and committed dancers we have at Dance ConneXion, we were blessed with new experience, new milestones, and most importantly new community, which was so very important during lockdown. COUNTING MY BLESSINGS: FREE ONLNE CLASSES & VIDEOS to keep students motivated and growing FREE MID-WEEK PARTIES to connect, to entertain, to laugh and to learn (We even brought in a live concert!) ONLINE & HYBRID CLASSES including Salsa, Samba, KPop, Heels, Chair dance, Ladies Styling, Deep Stretch, Kids Latin, Kids Ballet, and the born of the Ballet Room, which is going strong now for a year! AMAZING INSTRUCTORS whose impressive innovation and energy kept kids and adults coming back for more WORLDWIDE EXPOSURE - with the online opportunity, we taught classes worldwide through Alma Latina Program, trained kids in Mexico, and interviewed with a program in St John DANCING OUTDOORS - we took some of our dance classes outdoors, and even made a photoshoot trip out of one of them! CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTS - the extra time we had on hand allowed many of us instructors to work on video projects and continuously sharpening our crafts CHALLENGES COMPLETED - Split challenge, extension challenge, choreographies keep students motivated and oh so many impressive milestones accomplished! SO, WAS IT A WRITE OFF? On the books, yes. But in reality, we are physically and mentally stronger and richer than ever! I can say I am truly blessed with this community at Dance ConneXion which I call my second family. Thank you for your support always. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you! I look forward to partying with you all, in person, when all this is over. Meanwhile, see you on Zoom!

And just like that, tonight we taught the last dance class of 2020 at Dance ConneXion. It has been a challenging year for a dance school, especially one that specializes in partner dancing. We did what we could to keep honing our craft, while keeping the community and spirits alive. Lots of good that came with this year as well. Spending quality time with the family, pausing and reflecting, innovating and evolving, exploring and doing what you have always wanted to do....... His own journey to flexibility started 5 years ago and have discovered and infused a lot of yoga techniques into the stretches. Classes include warm up & core work, stretches for splits, as well as back stretches. Finale of the class includes drills for those IG worthy poses based on individual’s ability.
