I’ve always been drawn to this monument, not sure exactly why... maybe it’s the unique architecture. Maybe it’s because my Grandpa served in the Navy during WWII. I worked at sea for over 10 years myself, and whenever I struggled being away from friends and family I always thought how much harder it would have been for him, and everyone else who served in the Navy.... Whatever the reason, I’m happy to have finally captured a photo to do it justice. Perfect clear-sky rainbow sunset over a classic winter scene in the Nation’s Capital. Clear-sky sunsets with this much colour are pretty rare and can be difficult to capture without the right equipment and polarizers. For some reason they seem to be more prevalent in the winter months(perhaps due to a higher KP index).
