Man.. it feels good to be back.

SWIPE . A little Before and After action on a lifelong friend. She's always let me try anything... and I mean anything I wanted to on her hair. I'm getting excited to get back to work. I know we still have to have a little more patience and things are going to look a little different.. but that's okay! We've made it this far. We've made it farther than we have to wait. ... The changes will be weird at first, but that's okay too! In no time it will just feel normal. And ya know what...... im kinda diggin' the masks. ... ill save like $47 a year on lip gloss. Always a bright side right?

I'm a colourist. Colouring hair is like therapy for me. Being able to visualize what the end result will be based off of the knowledge of the chemical reaction of the colour to the choice of placement that will draw the eye to a certain point or create texture/movement. In saying that..over the years my love for technical hair cutting has grown. Using lines, elevation and graduation to create shapes in hair is so satisfying. As a 'Master Stylist' I feel like it would be ...easy to feel like you can lessen your commitment to education. Easy to lessen the challenges you give yourself. But in my opinion, it's all the more reason for more of both. I took a cutting course from @nikitochkin (check out his YouTube videos too, they're amazing) during this time off. It was a 'Basic' cutting course. And honestly, even after 10 years of doing hair behind the chair... I still learned alot. Perspective is everything. Learn from other peoples perspectives. Even if what you take away is what not to do... you've still learned something.

It's been weird not really knowing what to post . All I'm surviving on is Tiger King memes and videos of people cutting their own hair. But! As I hairstylist, I still enjoy scrolling and seeing some beautiful hair. . Makes me sad because all I want to do is see my clients who I miss so dearly and make everyone feel beautiful again. .... In my most recent podcast I discussed how my belief on hair being a "luxury" has changed. People need their hair done. It makes us feel normal and somewhat put together. . No... it's not life or death... no, noone is judging your bad roots or overgrown bob.... but that doesnt mean that the need to feel and look like yourself in a time where "normal" isnt part of our daily life is wrong. I get it!
