As restrictions by the province and city slowly lift, Artscape is happy to announce that we are planning a safe and gradual reopening of our operations! Starting July 6, Daniels Spectrum will begin providing access to tenants, guests, and camp programming. Public access remains restricted at this time. To protect the health and safety of our members and employees, the following safety measures are in place at our facilities:... - Mandatory screening of all guests entering the building. - Cleaning: Frequent detailed cleaning, increased wiping and sanitizing of all public spaces and surfaces, including: interior and exterior elevator buttons, concierge desks, coworking spaces, washrooms, and door handles. - Hand washing: The most effective way to prevent sickness is by washing your hands frequently and minimizing contact with your face. Hand sanitizing stations will be available, as well as hand-washing instructions in the common areas and public washrooms. - Masks: Face masks are required to be worn in all public spaces. Masks have been shown to be an effective tool in preventing the spread of the virus, if worn correctly. - Distancing: Minimize close contact with people by avoiding hugging and remaining at least 5 ft apart (hockey stick length) from others. Always cough and sneeze into your sleeves. - Travel: If you have traveled outside of Ontario recently, please self-quarantine and refrain from visiting our hubs for a period of 14 days upon your return. - Stay home: If you suspect that you may be ill or are displaying symptoms of: fever, cough, sore throat, or headache, please stay home and seek medical advice. We thank you for your patience, stay safe, and we can’t wait to see you back at Daniels Spectrum! In the meantime, please visit https://bit.ly/3iBSFUM for Artscape’s Reopening FAQ.

Close of up Disassociation by Hanan Hazime. (Paper Collage Please Inquire for Sale). (mus)interpreted runs till 17 November. There will be a small gathering and community day this Sunday on 10 November on the second floor! Image photographed by @jocelynarr . This collage explores lived experiences of mental illness and trauma, manifesting as disassociation. It is a surreal and symbolic depiction of how this disassociation feels as if there is a sudden disembodiment and det...achment from reality, floating in an alternative dimension or some hidden crevice of the mind. Depicted by the mirroring of monochrome and color in the collage, dissociation can be experienced on a spectrum of unpleasant "grey" spaces of trauma-induced dissociation to nonpathological creative and imaginative daydreams. . Hanan @the.mad.muslimah is a Lebanese-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, creative writer, community arts educator, and writing instructor living in Toronto. You can find Hanan’s writing in a number of publications including The Windsor Review, Generation Magazine, and on CBC Arts. Her visual art has appeared in several exhibitions including (mMus)interpreted 2017, and in the Bursting Bubbles exhibit as part of the 2018 Rendezvous with Madness Festival. Hanan is currently writing her first novel thanks to an OAC grant. . #muslimwomen #mentalhealthawareness #torontoart #torontoartists #torontocreatives #regentpark #torontogallery See more

Mariam Magsi @mariam_magsi is a Pakistani-Canadian Multidisciplinary Artist working in Photography, Performance, Video, Installation and other arts. . Title of work: Kabilay ki Baiti (Daughter of the Tribe) . Mariam Magsi turns the lens inward, with this ongoing series of photographs, videos and performances. Magsi examines contemporary Baloch identity through a postcolonial lens, and a reclamation of clothing, cultural practices, ritual, veiling, folklore and spirituality.... The artist belongs to the indigenous Magsi tribe from Balochistan, Pakistan. Historically, and even today, Baloch tribes and clans are highly patriarchal and patrilineal, with low visibility, involvement and inclusion of women in public space. The artist navigates these patriarchal expectations and the burden of centuries old honour codes, carefully balancing and negotiating life as governed by custom, while also attempting to break free from the very barriers that limit her. Large portraits from this ongoing series is currently on view at (mus)interpreted, @tndproject , at the 2nd Floor Hallway Gallery, Oct 10-Nov 16, 2019. . #torontophotographer #musinterpreted #tndproject #femaleartist #torontoart #torontocreatives See more
