BIG NEWS!!! My new CD entitled FORGIVEN is now available on Apple Music and iTunes. You can preview all my new songs, including a very special 25th-anniversary version of JOHN DEERE TRACTOR KEYS (originally released in 1995) by checking out the link below. I'm VERY proud of this new album, the first I've recorded in 15 years. It felt SO good to get back to my songwriting and recording after such a long hiatus. I guess I had to let some life happen to get re-inspired! ... And speaking of recording, it was such a privilege to work with Bart McKay, the best producer in the whole country (he's also produced my buddies Brett Kissel and Gord Bamford). I write for my fans, people who enjoy real country music with lots of fiddle and steel guitar, and not mainstream country radio. So Bart made sure these songs sound real...well, you can decide for yourself. In addition to Bart, the extra magic in this album was created by the unbelievably talented musicians who brought my songs to life. Special thanks to guitarist extraordinaire Ryan Davidson, bass virtuosos Travis Switzer and Derek Stremel, little drummer boy Chad Melchert, steel guitar god Mike Johnson Productions, and CMA Musician of the Year fiddler Jenee Fleenor. BARN SATELLITE NETWORK - Episode 02 Hi everyone! I hope you all had a blessed Easter weekend. Sure felt strange not being with friends and family though. I've been busy working on a number of creative projects and am actually enjoying this time to focus and get some good work done without the distractions of "normal" life.... I'm happy that a lot of folks enjoyed revisiting the BARN SATELLITE NETWORK, a 6-episode TV series I produced (with help from countless talented friends) many years ago. As promised, here's Episode #2 starring my buddy Adam Gregory. Redd Volkaert plays the role of my manager Hank Pompadour. Redd now lives in Austin, TX, and is one of the world's great guitar players. Hello friends! Well, aren't these strange and interesting times? Like all of you, we've been locked down in incubation (or whatever they call it) for the past couple of weeks now and frankly, it hasn't been all that bad. We've been resting, purging, cooking, reading, playing guitar, watching movies, Zooming, Facetiming, Tik Toking, organizing, reorganizing, emailing, napping, journaling, walking, running, exercising, phoning, studying, editing videos, and... I'm finally getti...ng around to those projects I've been saving for a "rainy day." One such project has been sorting through the archives of my music career, and that's how I came across this video. It's Episode #1 of BARN SATELLITE NETWORK, a six-episode TV series I produced back in 2001 with some of my very talented friends. These shows were televised on #CMT back in the day. I hope you enjoy this blast from the past, and that it provides a little entertainment at a time when we could all use a little chuckle. My special guest on Episode #1 is my longtime friend Patricia Conroy, whom I first met in Vancouver at a club on Granville Street during Expo 86. She's an AMAZING talent, and one of the nicest (and funniest) people in the music business. Also, you'll get to see another wonderful friend and funny guy, Redd Volkaert, who plays my manager Hank Pompadour. Redd played guitar in my band for several years before moving to California to join #merle Haggard's infamous group, the Strangers. Redd also produced my hit song, The JOHN DEERE TRACTOR KEYS. I appreciate that 840 CFCW still plays it every now and then. Special Note: The steel guitar player on BSN is Smokey Fennell, who celebrates his 20th anniversary with my band this year!
