5 stress-busting snacks! Did you know certain foods can actually help keep you calm? Scroll down to get ahead of stress before it eats you! Bananas & Avocados are both loaded with potassium which helps keep nasty stress-hormone cortisol at bay. (Bonus points for blocking the creation of stubborn belly fat!)... Green tea is rich in theanine, an amino-acid that research suggests may reduce anxiety. Trying to unwind before bed? Brew up a cup of chamomile tea to induce a better sleep. Mashed potatoes are the perfect comfort food you can eat with a spoon. Carby foods cause your body to release the happy hormone, serotonin. What’s more, potatoes are loaded with free-radical busting anti-oxidants. If you want to cut the fat content, go easy on the butter and try swapping cream for cashew milk. Lastly, how could we have a stress-reducing food list without CHOCOLATE?!! Again with the anti-oxidants if you are choosing a healthy 70% or higher dark chocolate. Day 4 - The struggle was real this morning and I broke my streak, but not going to let that stop my from trying to crush the rest of #30dayconsistencychallenge. Made the most of the rest of the day and will be heading to bed early tonight so I can get back at er tomorrow. How’d everyone else do?
This time of year, I’m usually seeing most of you come in to the clinic with sore low-backs, shoulders and tight legs from working out in the garden. I really like this 5 minute stretch routine from Scott’s. It covers all the bases and teaches you proper form.
