A heartfelt thank you, to those of you who have joined patreon, and have donated to Dara. I (Matt) apologize to those I scared with my post a couple of days a go, asking for support. No, we are not broke or going on the street, if that is what it felt like. The reality is simply that we tried to do things on our own, for probably too long. We truly had no idea, of how great the need is for animals to have a safe home to go to. Any rescue or sanctuary will be able to at...test to the amount of requests to accept animals into their care is. It is heartbreaking, overwhelming and can emotionally break you, if you are not careful. When you are the one on the end of a phone call, letting you know that an animal will be killed, or that they have exhausted all other options. It is an agonizing place to be. So, yes. We do you your help, to help with everyday costs of food, to be prepared with healthcare funds, to help create beautiful and safe homes for the animals. And yes, to plan for the future. Our biggest dream, other than to be able to have the best home for our Dara family who are already here, is to be able to obtain more land, so that we can have acres of land for the big pigs, Henry, Cornelius, Angela and Noam to roam and enjoy. And of course to be able to welcome more home to join them. We can see it in our heart. So when we write with a sense of urgency, that could border on desperation, it’s because we need to dream big for our friends in need. Thank you for asking! Angela and Noam are doing GREAT! They are bringing lots of life to Dara! Their 5 month old energy, means they always want to be doing something ! They love exploring everything. Seeing them run across the yard after something, it makes our hearts want to burst with happiness. Never far from each other! They are perfect!

Dear friends, At Dara, we don’t have any resident celebrities(except to us), we haven’t made any headlines, or been on tv. We started Dara, only wanting to care for animals in need. We had no idea that we would need to be marketers, fundraisers and nurse, to name a few. We thought that we would just be caring for and creating family with those who came to call Dara home. We probably won’t ever be celebrities or in magazines, but that does not mean tha...t what we do, and who we care for are any less deserving of support. We believe in doing small things with great love. Day in, and day out, we are all here together, trying our best to make the world a wee bit better. Any time spent with this handsome guy, is always beautiful. Kevin is our patriarch, he and Rosie are the true founders of Dara. They taught us, and showed us what can be in life, and now we are surrounded by teachers, and friends. Family and community take all forms, but all I know for sure is that EVERYONE deserves to be a loved, and treasured part. Kevin is a big sweetheart that likes to grump about things. Visits are in his time, and there is no changing his mind... For those of you who don’t know Kevin’s story, he had quite bad frost bite on his back and ears when we met. He has never had to worry about that happening again, but you can see the skin damage on his back. Once he moves back into the barn for the winter, we will be able to massage it with mineral oil again. We don’t want him to get a chill. But for now, he is enjoying these beautiful fall days in the sunshine. See more
