How does this even make sense? I can go train in an individuals house, with all members of their family present. Say for ease of numbers, each person I train has a family of 5. And I train 8 clients a day. So I am exposing myself (and my clients and their families) to 200 people each week. Additionally, I don’t know the cleaning procedures used in each home. This is safe and permitted. But yet, seeing 8 individuals a day (40 a week) in my PRIVATE studio that I clean meticulously isn’t allowed? Seems backward to me. Jason Kenney And Alberta Health Services can you please explain the rational behind this? And can you please explain how our ability to wear masks, social distance and adhere to all other covid protocols is any less than all the other health and wellness businesses you opened last week???

I remember a few years ago, I was involved in ALL the things. I was on every board imaginable...school, sports, committees. I volunteered for events. I coached. I was the "yes" girl. Everyone came to me when they needed something because they simply knew I'd go the extra mile to get it done. I never said no. In my mind, getting involved in all the things meant that I was actively participating in my family's life. Right?... I couldn't have been more wrong. What it actually meant was that I was so busy running myself ragged for everyone else that I didn't actually have the time to be PRESENT in my life...not only for my family but for myself. It was only when I sat down and realized that my overly scheduled life was breaking me instead of supporting me that I decided to make some significant changes... I narrowed my focus and prioritized the things that made me happy and gave me a sense of purpose. Know what happened? I started enjoying life more. I had time to make memories with the kids and with my husband. I had moments of quiet...where I could sit down and breathe. I slept better. I ate better. I FELT better. Busy isn't a badge of honour. Especially when the busyness doesn't fall inline with the things you value most in life. Sound all too familiar? Lasting change and the creation of new habits DOES NOT happen with a go big or go home, do it all right now attitude. In fact, I'd argue to say that being over-zealous is a pretty solid way to see your goal of change backfire. It's not that you don't want it. It's not that you aren't motivated. It's that we only have so much bandwidth each and every day. Taking on too much at one time is a quick way to burnout. And when we burn out...we give up. Am I ri...ght? The biggest thing with seeing lasting change is to have patience and take things one step at a time, especially when it involves changing habits. Look at your ultimate goal and pick one or two smaller steps to work on. When those steps become easy and habitual, add on two more and so on and so forth. Before you know it, those changes become part of your everyday. This is the approach I take with all of my clients. It's not about quick, overnight fixes. It's about changes that become a part of your lifestyle for the long haul. #yeg #yegfit #yegfitness #hwpo #shpk #shpkfit #shpkfitness #shpkmoms #heahltyhabits #yegnutriton #shpknutrition #firststepisthehardest #lifestylecoach #wellbeing #lookafteryourself #thesmallthingsmatter #lifecoach #selflove #healthylifestyle #fitnesslove #community #momblogger #onlinenutritioncoach #onlinefitnesstrainer #liveyourbestlife #investinyourself #smallchangesarebigones #stepstohealthy #darkhorsepower #fitmomlifestyle See more

I think we all know that having an accountability partner is a huge benefit when it comes to staying the course to reaching your goals. In fact, studies show that committing your actions to someone and having set check-ins increases your chances of reaching your goals by up to 95%. Because let's face it, often we let our excuses get in the way of our own success. But did you know not all accountability partners are created equal? Choosing an accountabilit...y partner with the same goal as you might not be the best plan. Take 2 friends who's goal is to hit the gym 2 days a week. If consistency has been a struggle for both these people in the past, it can be very easy to let the workout go when one partner finds a reason to avoid it. Choosing an accountability partner should be less about two people sharing the same goals and more about finding someone who cares about your progress. An accountability partner... *helps you establish and define your goals *may have been in a similar situation but has gone through the process of achieving their goal *asks you the tough questions *pushes you out of your comfort zone *challenges your limiting beliefs *give you honest feedback *helps you level up in life *celebrates your wins I know it might be tempting to turn to your BFF...and for some this might work but it's important to know that there is always a risk that well-intentioned feedback may be taken personally. And not all BFFs are comfortable laying out the cold hard truth when progress stalls. Do you have an accountability partner? How have they helped you reach your goals? See more

There are so many reasons that I love the start of a new year. Don't get me wrong...we don't need the calendar to flip over to January to be able to set goals and dream of the future. The possibilities for growth can happen any minute of the year. But the energy January brings just heightens the excitement for possibility. That said, as I scroll through social media and get caught up on emails, it seems as though every second message I read is about how THIS is g...oing to be the year that you become the NEW YOU. Well intentioned or not, I personally don't love that message because I think it implies that there was/is something wrong with the person you are right now. You are an incredible person and it's important to honour that. You don't need a "new" you. All past experiences, all of your self-perceived flaws (because let's face it, the New Year brings about all the propaganda that makes you believe a new you is necessary)...it's what makes you incredible and unique. It's exactly what those around you LOVE about you. Growth is absolutely important. Making changes to improve your health (mental and physical) can definitely help you live your best life. But let's change the dialogue a little bit. Maybe instead of focusing on a new you, you love yourself a little more, lean into your strengths and work to improve a few habits. Acknowledge that everything in the past has been and will continue to be important as you continue down the endless road of self-discovery to become the best version of yourself! See more

December 31st is one of my favourite days. For me, it's a day of reflection. I look back at all the last 365 days had to offer. I reflect on the good (and the difficult), the life lessons, the fun and adventure. Each and every year there are things that I want to bring with me and other things that I'd just rather leave behind. There is no doubt that this year had many difficult moments. I think I've literally sat in my car, in the shower, on the floor... in the middle of my studio and cried. I've cried more times this year than I ever have. But this year has also been filled with so many unexpected blessings. The greatest of these blessings has been time. Time for the little things I've been wanting to do. Time for reconnecting with myself. And time with the other 4 people under my roof. I think it's safe to say that I will never have this much uninterrupted time with my kids ever again, and we've made some amazing memories and I think it's safe to say that we've all become even closer as a family. December 31 is also one of my favourite days because I get to dream a little. I think about the next 365 days, and all that I want to accomplish in all facets of my life. Though I'm always setting goals, this is when I get really detailed! This is when I write it all out and truly curate how I want to create my best life. This year, I created a goal setting workbook. It's been in the works for awhile and thanks to the gift of time, I was able to get it done. And I wanted to share it ...my gift to you! It's available for download (the link is in my bio) and simply provides the framework for you to set some goals, make the plans to attain them with tips to keep you motivated and moving forward throughout the whole year. Download it. Share it. Let me know what you think! What is YOUR biggest goal for 2021?? See more
