Dark Sky Viewing Area 31.10.2020

Just a reminder that our stargazing events are cancelled for this weekend - September 18th & 19th. The site is still open for casual stargazing, so we hope you can still make it out and enjoy the view. Although the forecast does call for clear skies, note that eastern Canada is experiencing the effects of the wildfires out west. The view may not be as clear as usual due to smoke high in the atmosphere. That said, you should hopefully still see plenty of stars. Enjoy!

It’s so important they’ve made an album about it!!! Remember, if you plan on visiting the Dark Sky Viewing Area tonight (or any night) please turn off your vehicle headlights and refrain from using white lights of any kind while there (red light is acceptable). To Lennox & Addington County, with love. To our forests for providing the ultimate playground, to our landscape for letting us view as far as we can see, and to our wide open skies that give us glimpses to the heavens above... Thank you. Comet NEOWISE is now on its way towards Earth, with its closest approach taking place on July 22nd. In the next week or so (July 14th - 19th) the comet will be visible with the naked eye (but best seen with a small telescope or even binoculars) about an hour and a half after sunset. Head to the DSVA and get a good look! If you miss this opportunity, you won't be able to see this comet again for another 7,000 years or so (and you probably won't be around for it.
