After having several conversations with residents over the past number of days, I would like to note the following points of concern: - I will continue to lobby our MHA and government to secure the required monies to fix the waste water problem that currently exists in town. Council has made applications in 2016 and 2017 for monies to craft the RFP( Request for Proposal)for the proper system and design, but funding was not approved. - I will stress the importance to the newly... elected council to use the next allocation of gas tax money, beginning in 2019, to complete street paving as the cost sharing ratio is currently 50/50 with the province. - The renovations to the town hall are expected to be completed in mid 2018, this will allow all the towns inside workers to be located in one building. This will create efficiencies in the organization as seasonal offices can be closed in the off season. - Council has received approval to pave Centennial road with a start date of 2018. - Council is in the process of upgrading the current water treatment plant so that soda ash can be added. Soda ash will reduce the amount of corrosion of the pipes thus reducing the number of water leaks. This will allow the public work employees more time to dedicate to their other duties. This project will be completed late fall 2017. - Council is awaiting crown lands approval to place a pier at Gambo Pond boat launch for boaters to tie up to, and also to increase the size of the parking lot. - In early 2017 council received correspondence from the Department of Transportation and Works stating that the road shoulders and ditching of J.R. Smallwood Blvd would be completed in this years summer maintenance schedule. Follow up correspondence has been sent to the minister requesting the time frame for completion. If anyone has any questions or concerns, you can contact me on my cell phone 674-6979 or by email at [email protected]. Thank you, Darren
I have decided to once again seek a position on Gambo Town Council. I have served on council for the past eight years, the last four as Deputy Mayor. I have lived in Gambo my whole life. I am married to a Gambo girl and am raising two daughters in this beautiful town. I have been a member of the Gambo Fire Department for the last 10 years, 5 of which I have been Deputy Fire Chief. I am also a long time volunteer on the Smallwood Days Committee. I feel I have the experience ...and dedication to get the job done concerning any needs that the citizens of Gambo may have. I look forward to your support on the 26th. If you wish to contact me please feel free to do so either through Facebook or email me at [email protected] Thank You, Darren Dyke
