I get a call to change out some recepticals because they're loose. They were probably from the 70s. An infared heater had been plugged in for a length of time, they draw alot and cause alot of heat in a plug. Any heater should not be used for long periods of time. If that is a necessity, maybe installing a dedicated 20amp circuit for your portable heater. #sparkylife #servicework #electricianlife @ SureFire Electric

Panel change, nothing super spectacular but now they have room for a heat pump. The old one just wasnt large enough and sub panel was not really possible or practical. Im going to go out on a limb and say even though it was 35-40 years ago, a permit wasnt taken out on the panel addition (2 wires under one lug). The result is the bubbly wire from excessive heat eventually can cause a fire. Im not even sure why someone would sneak individual conductors that way into the octagon!!! Found this little ditty while changing the location of a service. I-1/2" screws to hang a door covering the panel drilled into the incoming feeder pipe. I am not sure how it did not hit the 3 4/0 awg wires. Its important that your electrician ensures a good connection and proper wire size. A loose connection will cause increased resistance, creating excessive heat eventually causing your wires and device to burn. A smaller gauge wire will not be able to handle the amperage causing your wires to eventually burn.
