You asked & we delivered! We have added a new weapon to our arsenal! Welcome our new 2021 TigerCat 822D with a telescopic boom to our fleet. This machine has been added to diversify the way we harvest timber with Zero tail swing we are able to do lighter touch forestry without scaring trees and farther reach to leave bigger strips between trails with less ground disturbance while selectively harvesting certain stands. This machine will make our business more well rounded to take on any job from overstory removals to commercial thinning! Send us a message or call Cody Carter at 902-694-0138 if you have questions about selling standing timber or woodland!
In this video you will find our objectives of the working forest in the Mainland Moose Management areas in Digby County. While all objectives change on a stand-...to-stand basis, the Mainland Moose Special Management Plan developed by the Department of Lands and Forestry is followed in all Moose Management areas. In these areas we are completing a Shelterwood Harvest as well as a Variable Retention Harvest. This area has been managed for forestry since the late 1800’s. The objective has changed from what it once was when it was strictly managed for timber production, to an area with ecologically based forest objectives. These forests are now being managed for Species at Risk habitat by creating an uneven-aged forest with a diversity of tree species. Although a controversial topic in Nova Scotia, forestry and moose management co-exist in many areas across North America. StFX researchers have found that the ecosystem at Boat Harbour, a body of water in Pictou, NS receiving effluent from a nearby mill for over 50 years, should af...ter remediation be able to support organisms commonly found in estuarine ecosystems along coastal Nova Scotia, in particular, two primary producers, eelgrass and salt marsh grass. The study is published in the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, and lead author is Megan Fraser, a 2020 StFX aquatic resources and biology graduate from New Glasgow, NS, who completed the research while an undergraduate student at StFX. She is a co-author on the study with her supervisor, aquatic resources professor Dr. Jim Williams. StFX biology faculty Drs. Russell Wyeth and David Garbary are also co-authors. The recent racism and threats made to Chief Andrea Paul are very disappointing to our team. Racism and discrimination have no place in our society. We encourage... all parties to be respectful and accepting of differences. It is our hope that moving forward, Paper Excellence, Northern Pulp and Pictou Landing First Nation can be a positive example of industry and First Nations working collaboratively and respectfully. (text en francais ci-dessous)......... Forwarder (Fire / Water Tank Kit Conversion). Here is an innovative solution by adapting available forestry equipment to ...fight forest fires. The steel structure designed and manufactured by AL Fabrication houses a water tank and pumps that can be lifted on a forwarder, converting the Ponsse forwarder normally used for loading and transporting logs into an extreme off-road firetruck. This fire/water tank conversion kit was successfully used in Northern New Brunswick by JD Irving during the 2020 spring forest fires, helping to stop the spread of the fire in areas that would normally be inaccessible. Fore more information please contact A.L.P.A.
