Being blue .... not the mood but the color! Maple was playing in the water with food colouring. Pouring and dumping, filling and spilling, and measuring are always favoured activities with little learners. Water and recycled containers make for engaged learning! #fillingandspilling #pouringanddumping #thescienceofmeasurements #cultivatingwonder @ Dartmouth Child Development Centre

A little TLC and intention goes a long way ... here we have a newly built dollhouse with thoughtfully purchased multiethnic and diverse capability play people presented on a revamped table (one of the legs was loose and the table top was stained from years of use ... a good screw driver and some adhesive paper went a long towards giving this piece of furniture a second chance). Now this classroom has a new addition to their dramatic play activity area to inspire conversation and imaginative play #cultivatingwonder

Here are a few of the thoughtful invitations that the ECEs set out on Thursday morning. From preschoolers with Pom poms, toddlers with climbing crates, to infants using push cars to strengthen their walking skills the possibilities are endless when ECEs follow the children’s interests. Keep up the wonderful ways of cultivating wonder everyone! #thoughtfulinvitations #cultivatingwonder #capableconfidentcurious #ecesrock @ Dartmouth Child Development Centre

Writing it down can be the hardest part of cultivating wonder. We see magical moments many times a day, making the time to jot it down can make the difference between enjoying the moment when it happens and being able to communicate it to families or even giving children the opportunity to see their own learning and reflect on things that they have experienced. This ECE recognized the importance in the moment and took a few seconds to jot it all down. #documentation #communication #reflectingonlife #cultivatingwonder #capableconfidentcurious @ Dartmouth Child Development Centre

Wonder is everywhere ... the trick is to recognize it when you see it! Here one of the Aspen ECEs has recorded a spontaneous activity, asked a few open ended questions, and documented the resulting conversation. The ECEs intention is to print the pictures and make a write up so the children can see their own learning. Pretty powerful and inspirational when you see it all in action!! #playismywork #cultivatingwonder #capableconfidentcurious
