On June 8 2019, at the The Ritz-Carlton, Montréal took place a dual foundation for Arcade Fire’s Haiti relief foundation Fondation KANPE Foundation and Toronto based Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ). Together, they raised over $250,000. The most sought after bids were private dinners by Paul Toussaint of Montreal restaurant Agrikol. On that same night, Arcade Fire was awarded by APJ for their great work in Haiti with KANPE, co-founded by bandmate Regine Chassagne. https://www.doleyres.com/?p=8660

On Friday March 8, Michael Brun presented BAYO at Fairmount Theatre. A sold-out concert awaited by many. Not only did he bring a festive Haitian vibe to Montreal, but his positive energy and generosity on stage spread into the audience. To the sound of featuring artists; Anie Alerte, Paul Beaubrun, Ayiiti, J.Perry, Mikaben, Boukman Eksperyans and Rara Del Poze, the crowd was electrified dancing to the rhythm and chanting along.

In late September, I traveled to Haiti with chef Paul Harry Toussaint, of Agrikol to work with him on one of his projects. On our trip was also Chef Jouvens Jean. He came to fulfill a mission. Jouvens got wind that ETFAG Ecole Technique Frere Andre' Guimond, located in La-Vallee-de-Jacmel was no longer receiving the funds to feed the students. Jouvens organized a task force. Chefs Paul and Melissa Francois joined without hesitation. It’s impressive to see the amount of work t...hat goes into preparing a meal for close to 700 people. From running the errands to cutting vegetables and stepping out to go get the last-minute local spices. Everyone came together. I witnessed pure joy and excitement from the children. I was moved. Overwhelmed. I put my camera down and passed down the plates knowing that, that night, no one would go to bed hungry. See more

The Nocturnes at the MAC are a unique concept that sees the Musée throw open its doors for the night. Throughout the evening, you can visit the exhibitions, take in a live performance or a gallery talk with an artist or curator, or enjoy a bite to eat or a drink. I photographed the latest edition of 'Les Nocturnes du Mac' early in the evening. There were few people there which gave me the opportunity to better capture the interactive installations from featured artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. As I left the museum, the place was full of visitors there to enjoy the lively experience.
