I could not allow this month to end without paying homage to my ancestors for their contributions to what is now considered a free life for people of colour who look like me. Though the struggle is real and the fight for equality continues, I stand tall and proud to be a descendant of some really strong and resilient people. I love being a black woman, a black mother, a black wife, a daughter, sister and friend. We are are , a mystery, a work of art, we are mystical and endearing. Today the entire world mourns an NBA legend and his beautiful daughter and the others killed in that horrific crash. My sincere condolences to all the families!
