In Canada, we're staunch believers in democracy, just not staunch enough for many of us to vote for what we really want once we're in the polling booth. Once t...here, knowledge is used to vote strategically for the party that can beat the party that we fear:... and the party that we're voting for (as well as the media) has surely convinced us that we need to fear them. They've pounded it into our head (knowledge?) a million times: we can't get what we want through democracy (by voting for it). "It won't happen because not enough people will vote for what they believe in... then the world will go to hell in a handbasket because the evil party will be elected." The reality is that by having those who vote to avoid the greater evil, simply vote for what they want, we would get what we want in a landslide. That's without even getting those who don't vote (because they never get what they want) out to vote for what they want. We now find ourselves in that handbasket they warned us about. So, are we using knowledge, or is knowledge using us?

Food security is going to become a bigger and bigger question moving forward. We face a warming globe and a myriad of other issues, but there are solutions. We need to stick together and demand the solutions that old line parties and the industrial food systems have ignored for far too long.

Can anyone disagree, that if we're to overcome this crisis compassionately, it requires that we all work together for the common good? The corporate media ...narrative today is that unless governments' infuse large quantities of (your) money into the neoliberal global economic system that is in place, it will collapse and devastate "everyone." However, the intention of the entire neoliberal economic/political direction that we've been headed down for decades, was never to serve "everyone." The intended outcome of its (hyper growth/consumption and billionaire profiteering) tunnel vision, was quite simply to further the accumulation of wealth and power for a very, very small percentage of the population, at any cost... and the proof is in the pudding. The underlying tone of the messages that our PM and Premier have been sending out during this crisis is that we must do this together (everyone). The sooner we can restore the status quo economic system, the better. However what they fail to put "on the table" with their messaging, is that we have an opportunity for a fresh reset coming out of this crisis. It's an opportunity to create a whole new economy. One that considers more than just the profits of the billionaire class. An economy that thoughtfully considers its impact on "everyone" and everything. One that considers the social and environmental outcomes that our current economic system selfishly ignores. An economy that will be better equipped to deal with the future emergencies that the current system has been creating (they are vast), and will undoubtedly have to be dealt with moving forward. Intelligent people often take time to reflect on a simple question: are the beliefs that they have, actually serving them? The time to reflect about whether (or not) we continue with the same unbalanced economic system that serves the few much better than the many, is now.

Our children/grandchildren won't care what our strategic excuse was for continuously electing captured governments that knowingly destroyed their future, they'll only want to know why we kept doing it when we knew that their future was at risk. Yes, we (Canada) are fourth on the list of countries that secretly throw (your) tax-payer dollars at the fossil fuel industry so that they can destroy our planet. http://priceofoil.org/2020//30/press-release-g20-ecas-2020/

Tired of status quo politics? Tired of Doug Ford doing the opposite of what is in the best interests of the "little guy''??? Want to send him a message???? I'd like to organize a group - from Hamilton - to go to Ottawa for much needed canvassing help for the upcoming (two) Ontario bi-elections. It's a great opportunity for campaign experience as well as (potentially) helping to elect another Ontario Green. Lets give our Ontario Leader, Mike Schreiner, another Green MPP (or two) to help with his relentless work for the people of Ontario. We need any, and all help, if we're to be successful. Please reply if interested.
