There are some exciting things happening in downtown Uxbridge! I can’t wait to see the new mystery business that is opening on lower brock! That location has been empty for at least 10 years.
It was great to see Pinki and Dave at the @leaskdale_gas_bar today. I love that we now have delicious Indian Food in Leaskdale! Check it out! @localeats.durham
Here are our COVID numbers all on one slide. Uxbridge has consistently been between 15-23 active cases for a few weeks while Durham Region have dropped their active cases in half. If you notice the ages on the chart, it is not specifically one age group that is responsible for our Uxbridge cases. Please remember that this virus requires a human host. Please do you part, assume you are COVID positive and don’t share it. #StayHomeON
Hello All, Here is an update from Durham Health on vaccines for those who are 80+. https://www.durham.ca//health-department-preparing-to-prov
The covid numbers are increasing, it is time to be significantly more careful so we can protect our families and get our lives back to normal.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share that Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden passed away early this morning at home with her husband and family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. I just got off the phone with Regional Councillor Smith and offered him our deepest condolences on behalf of the staff, council and residents of the Township of Uxbridge. https://www.durhamregion.com//10316017-brock-mourning-los/ https://www.townshipofbrock.ca//mayor-debbie-bath-hadden-l
Let’s make the best of lockdown and have some socially-distanced outdoor fun. Between now and Sunday, Jan. 24th build a creative snow masterpiece, take a photo and submit it to enter a prize! This is an important message from Rick Mercer with specific advice for the 18-29 year olds. Make sure you watch it until the end. https://twitter.com/rickmercer/status/1352613702927855621 #StayHomeON
I am so fortunate to live steps away from the Trans Canada Trail so I can head out for a midnight spin on a night like this. #getoutside #socialdistancing
The lovely staff from the Uxbridge Public Library have created some virtual programming that may be a great fit for your families. Please remember that we are open for curb side pick up in Uxbridge and Zephyr. https://fb.watch/3dfgEHJuui/
It’s was such a pleasure seeing all of the smiling faces driving through Elgin Park tonight at the Fantasy of Lights. @uxlights

I am so happy to see many of our healthcare workers including my wife Sonia getting their vaccines today. Covid cases continue to rise but it feels like some of the weight of the situation has been lifted. Please stay safe and give these heroes the time it will take for the vaccine to provide them protection. Dr Jensen and I will be on 105.5 FM Uxbridge Radio tomorrow morning at 8:12 to discuss COVID and the vaccine.
Our local businesses have everything that your friends and family members desire this Christmas! @passionate.cook #keepyourbuxintheux #uxbridgebia
Covid case update for today and please listen to 105.5 FM Uxbridge Radio tomorrow morning at 8:12. Dan Pollard and I will discuss the covid vaccine with Dr. Carlye Jensen. https://app.powerbi.com/view
The Premier and General Rick Hillier had a conference call with all of the Mayors in Ontario today to discuss the roll out of the covid vaccines. Mayor Don Mitchell published his notes from the call which I have shared below. Listening to the Premier announce the vaccination roll out. It is somewhat general of course but there will be 2.4 million vaccines available soon - need 2 per person 21 days apart. So they can vaccinate 1.2 millon residents. The first phase will f...ocus on the most vulnerable - those in long term care homes and congregate settings in higher risk zones and the health care workers and essential caregivers in those settings. The Pfizer vaccine comes first and can only be delivered at dedicated locations. The Moderna vaccine is more transportable. Phase 2 will see vaccinations delivered at current covid assessment facilities. Phase 3 - 2021 - will see us move into a steady state of delivery. This will be a huge logistical operation and there will certainly be a multitude of complications and challenges but it will be so great to turn the corner and take control. To know that our vulnerable seniors will be increasingly protected will raise all of our spirits.
I had an excellent conversation with Carolyn Morton today when I called to congratulate her on the new role serving our community as chair of the DDSB. She has done an excellent job representing us so far and I know she will continue to excel as she takes on this new position. https://www.durhamregion.com//10284348-carolyn-morton-el/
Today I was proud to join The Small Urban GTHA Mayors for our inaugural meeting. We discussed Covid19, the impact of Section 6 in Bill 229 on our local municipalities and the need for ongoing meetings like this to be a unified voice for our communities in the GTHA.
