Today was the day to try my new carving tools. Lit the fire, found some scraps and set to work carving. Needed to unwind the other day so sharpened my hand planes and made some shavings(ended up with a few chopsticks). Planing wood by hand is very relaxing and extremely satisfying.

Sushi board, chopsticks and stands. Once the jig was made to make the chopsticks it was quite fun making them. And the little cabinet is done - almost- decided to change hinges and need to add hooks to hang keys Finished with farmhouse white chalked paint and a great little pinecone pull my wife picked up at Tweedside Road.
