New Brunswick has the second highest rate of disabilities in Canada. Four months ago, the Premier’s Council on Disabilities released its disability action plan, making 43 recommendations to ensure reliable, consistent, and inclusive services for those living physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities. No one wants to see this report sit on the shelf like so many others. Premier Higgs says this is a priority for his government. C'est un honneur et un privilège d'avoir été choisi pour représenter la population de Fredericton-Sud à cette 60e législature et de servir comme parlementaire dans cette institution politique. Avec le retour à un gouvernement majoritaire, le rôle de cette branche législative du gouvernement est d'autant plus important pour exercer un contrôle sur les actions du premier ministre et du cabinet. The 60th session of the Legislative Assembly begins today with the speech from the throne. On Friday, I will give my response to the throne speech. Next week, I will table a bill to put a cap on rent increases in New Brunswick, just as a bill I tabled in 2018 would have done.
